Hi All,
I am a gadget-fanatic from the Bay Area (California for you Canadians), and I just made my second radar detector purchase (first for me). I purchased a Uniden DFR7 for my brother's girlfriend a few months ago as she has a pretty heavy right foot and have heard wonders from them. I don't own a car so I am going to be installing the Uniden R7 into my stepmom's car until I get a 2002-4 Mustang GT when the DMV opens up. My other options were the Valentine V1 G2, Radenso Pro M, Escort Redline EX, or the Escort 360, with my most probable second and third choice being the V1G2 and the Pro M
I figured I would join this forum as I love Vortex Radar's content and have seen a lot of radar hacks that can better help me. One example of this would be using a Radenso XP visor mount as a Uniden R7 visor mount after shaving a 1/4 in off the tip.
Why did I pick a Uniden R7 over a Valentine V1 Gen2, Radenso Pro M, Escort Redline EX or 360?
Well, I decided to select the Uniden R7 for the following reasons.
1. High performance without the need for a phone. ( I would like to be able to use Waze as a countermeasure and not have to focus on so many apps, and yes I do know the Pro M does not connect to a phone)
2. Looks pretty bad ass
3. Was at $406 on Amazon so I couldn't say no.
4. Seems strong on KA band and living in the Bay Area, most local LEO use KA or LIDAR (Don't worry, I'm going to get an ALP installed on my future car).
Why would I lean towards a Radenso Pro M or V1 G2?
1. A little better BSM filtering
2. OLED screen on R7 burns in
3. Waiting on the V1G2 to have a little more user testing.
P.S., how do I get those cool signatures where it says your hardware?
P.P.S., if you have any around the house or in car gadget recommendation let me know!
Thanks ! I am excited to learn more about radar detectors on this forum!
