Escort ShifterMax ZR5 false positives

Yesterday I received four false laser positives within an hour or so, highway driving, in some instances other cars were nearby, in other instances not. The time was approximately 5PM, very sunny, approximately two hours before sunset. I've never received so many false positives before or as frequently.

Might this be related to the recent Escort update? Or just a coincidence or fluke?

Interesting. Is there any way to get some sort of Gun ID with the Escort system? I know some Mercedes headlights can cause Truspeed falses on other systems. Maybe knowing what pattern it was seeing could help identify the false

I am not aware of a way to get laser reception detail from the system. I am fairly certain these were indeed false readings. I was at or under the speed limit when they occurred, both with and without other cars nearby. No LEO's visible before or after any of the four alarms.

Are you running a RD hooked up to your ZR5 or are you running it standalone? Usually the laser jammers have better filtering than the RD's that can control them.

I asked on Escort's own forum and the moderator said there is no way to access laser reception data from the iX Ci.

Interesting though, he said the RD does record information regarding the lidar pulse. That info just cannot be accessed.

I wonder if that means that the ZR5 transmit the pulse rate information to the detector where it can be saved and retrieved for diagnostic purposes, or if it is only when the detector itself detects the lidar pulse information.

I do not know.

If I was the manufacturer and the device was cloud enabled I would save to the cloud and then analyze as much data points on each reception that I could. I think such data would be very valuable for future software updates as well as new products introductions. If this data is only stored in the RD internally it's of limited use.
