What will the ramp up be like....I prefer the v1 ramp up myself.

You know, the V1 ramp up is selectable, on Ka band, anyways. Maybe Theia will make the ramp up user's choice, like the Uniden R Series let's the user select the warning tone.

Awesome this is one of the best vids yet, it was great to hear you just answer random questions. Your passion and energy with Theia is very clear.

On a different note, I was very happy to hear that you will include an step down adapter of some type 12>5volts so a mirror tap can be used.

Yeah I liked the video too. If insurance prices do drive out self driving cars, then it'll be time for me to move to NZ where car insurance is not mandatory.

But all in all, I really really really hate car insurance companies. They literally only car about profits and they know almost nothing about cars. Which makes it hard for a car enthusiast since no one will let you mod anything, especially when the agent flipped out because I had M performance pedals on my car due to the word performance....

@Jon at Radenso I know I'm a little late with my question, but what is the programming language/languages used in radar detectors?

Jon, good to hear that Theia will default to a combination white list / black list alert logic. You're not making unnecessary assumptions that could leave users inadequately protected. Wishing your team every success.

Any insights on how the sampling rate is asked by RAI to the fpga with no alerts present? Whats the sampling rate from idle to any threat detected? Also, does it have op amps to switch between front & rear horns?
Can you also sample something small on the front horn, while sampling at a higher rate on the rear?

When no energy is present we are always sampling at about 60msps and 60mhz to sweep the fastest through the spectrum, but samples of empty noise will never get to the AI. The FPGA is the gatekeeper of samples. When the FPGA detects something then it will alert the system coordinator that there is energy present, and the system coordinator decides how it wants to be processed and sent to Rai.

We use a microwave switch IC to change between horns. Since the horns alternate, we can't technically do it simultaneously, but it's such low latency it is functionally equivalent to if we could.

Indeed it is. Congratulations, I was wondering how long it would be before someone recognized the name!
I only speed in Mexico, in which case I typically sit about 30mph over the limit on the highway. Don't really speed in town. Don't speed in the USA, so no chance of incriminating myself.

Is your screen name a reference to Leopold Godowsky?
Some solo pianists are raking in the benjamins. :omg:

If you look at Idata Maestro RR they display select K-40 and Escort detectors on your compatible aftermarket car stereo. Hopefully Theia will be included down the road.

Good to hear the enthusiasts input was taken into consideration in the hardware design while the final product will be basically defaulted/simplified for the much larger market, with the enthusiasts being able to fine tune from there.

This strategy was borne out with the V1G2 when Mike V indicated that a majority of V1G1 users did not even know how to use the full functionality of the dual rotary knob which was replaced and simplified with buttons (in addition to freeing up additional interior component space). Got to sell to the masses to be able support the enthusiasts. Still like the knob. Wish more manufacturers would communicate as openly on the forum. Enjoyable insights . . .

I imagine there are people at each manufacturer who might want to communicate as openly, but given they are a employee of a much larger company than Radenso, they'd probably have to get approvals from multiple layers of corporate overhead and clear everything they would want to say, it would not be worth the trouble.

I believe it is that but the biggest reason is pretty simple to me. They just are not true enthusiasts, to them it is just a job.

Many thanks to Jon and Team Radenso for both quantity and quality of communication. 2020 has it's struggles but it's a most exciting year in CMs. @Min Diesel, you were certainly missed but glad you and the team are safe and healthy.
