I thought it might be nice for motorcyclists who want to know from sound only when orientation changes. I don't think it will be for everyone.

Here's a brief demo:

I really like the Doppler shift feature by the way. The frequency shift seemed pretty dramatic when I first heard it so I set out to estimate the vehicle speed used.

Obviously, the alert tones are not a pure frequency, but it appears the "approaching" tone is a mix of 1000Hz and 700Hz with maybe a few other frequencies thrown in, while the "departing" tone is a mix of 900Hz and roughly 620Hz plus some other tones. Using 1000Hz approaching and 900Hz departing frequency for a sound wave implies the approach (and departing) velocity would be roughly 40mph. Not as fast as I expected. Is this correct?

Obviously, I have too much time on my hands.

It's not that complex. I just adjust pitch for side and rear orientations, with some smoothing between current pitch and target pitch. Speed is not a factor.

Thanks for your response. How much of a pitch adjustment are you using?

Ahead = base
Side = base - 5%
Rear = base - 10%

Perfect, Thanks. A total pitch change of 10% (i.e., from 1000Hz to 900Hz) is consistent with what you would hear when driving by a stationary sound source at 40mph.

You can also click the search icon at the top right of every settings screen and search for "doppler".

Just received my V1 Gen2 yesterday so first time using the app in about a week. Love the new interface and helpful guides in the Profile for G2, e.g., USA+Logic mode recommend for best app muting, etc. Cool logo too.
