Got a new amazing price for r7. By time I sell r3 it will cost 149$ for new r7.
Seems worth it...is it though. I like arrows and just wanted to hear if I should go ahead with the r3 to r7 upgrade? Ty

I did it. I first got a detector June of last year with a cobra. After realizing how crap it was I upgraded to the R3 which was amazing. In November I bought an R7 and the arrows are something that i’d want forever. It’s especially useful at night as you can’t see the cop but can see if it’s safe to speed back up because you know when you passed the cop.

Here is why sometimes I consider an Arrow RD.
I was getting Ka blips for many miles and I decided to check my speed and all of a sudden it started to go off like a banshee, but I could not see anything. In the course of time I realized there was rear danger 2 cars behind me a LEO was coming at quite a pace. Glad I had dropped my speed but I could have been caught without my being cautious when I could have used more info to know what to do earlier. So maybe my next RD will need to have Pointers.

R7 is way too big.
V1.2 is nice size, need MRCD, GPS database for RLCamera.

Theia ??? maybe.

V1 doesn’t have GPS because they claim GPS is unreliable for lockouts and they’d rather have better filtering than relying on lockouts. But if you really want gps you could pair it to a phone and get RLC and lockouts. As far as MRCD goes it isn’t used in most places anyways. Theia looks very promising.

Yeah, V1 seems to have a brain lock on not having a built in GPS. Now it would make the detector bigger but ONE DEVICE is what I was looking for, I DO NOT want Lockouts.

Escort owns the GPS patent that V1 would need, Mike made it clear that he wants to avoid any lawsuits and he's not going to pay for it, that's the main reason why there is no GPS in it as of today.

I logged in to ask the same question, have a friend who would like to purchase my R3 which would cost me around $200 more to upgrade to R7.

My R3 is been very good to me, never letting me down. I do love the arrows of R7 but when it comes to other specs and settings is there a huge difference between R3 and R7 (range, sensitivity, improved laser etc...?)

After seeing R7 in person I was taken back of how much larger it is than R3.
I have both R7 & R3. I love the smaller size of the R3 and it is not detectable by Specter RDD's if that's important to you. The R7 can be detected by the Specter. The R7 has a little more range than the R3 but not by much. So it comes down to the size of the detectors and the arrows. If you want the arrows and don't need it to be undetectable to RDD's than get one, but you don't lose much if you stay with the R3. Here in NJ all radar bands are used so I run mine X-30% K-40% and Ka- Laser 100% This keeps the detectors quiet for the way I drive.

I went on a drive yesterday and panicked when I couldn't find my r7, so I had to use a 360c, ended up finding it buried away in my bedroom. It's worth a step up from the r3.

Yes you are right, going to court costs $$$ and Valintine sells only one item. He didn't sell a new detector for almost a year, Uniden & Escort would never do that. So no GPS or auto lock outs, but you get that with cell phone apps. I use V1 Driver the lock outs are really good. I tell people if you don't want to use your phone with the V1G2, get a different detector.

Hi! I actually ended up getting my R7 for about $230 or a little more. That was due to gift cards and what not, however, I could have gotten the R3. I was skeptical because I like the fact that the r3 has amazing range. IF it was up to me now, aside from the GPS lockouts and the Arrows, I'd prob swap to the R3. It's alot more compact over my R7. That I did not realize when buying it from a Redline (OG).

If you feel like its an upgrade, then I'd say shed the extra cost. Arrows are nifty- but I'd recommend turning back the sens on the rear.

For me it was well worth it. I'm a big arrows guy and the gps lockouts were a huge bonus.
