Hi guys,

Does anyone have any experience or detail around the GPS database performance in the UK for Genevo detectors? Im very tempted by the Genevo Max but generally in the UK it's regarded that a GPS database as being the most valuable source for alerts.

I am not sure where Genevo get their data from and the update frequency / reliability / accuracy for UK data?

I'm interested in this too, although also interested in how well it picks up gatso.

Genovo's website says their GPS database is updated every month, but doesn't say where they source their data from. I would try emailing their support team for an answer.
Many UK motorways have average speed cameras which don't use radar or laser, but rather take a photo of your car as you enter the monitoring zone and again as you leave the zone. A distance/time calculation determines your speed. A GPS database detector, or one of several phone apps is required to locate those cameras.

Defo 100pc need gps, which is why I quite like the escort 360 max int as the companion app seems to show all the fixed camera locations near me.

But would love to see both units in action in the UK. The max seems to support more bands.

Ok so I couldn't find any online videos of people using the Genevo MAX in the UK. So I've bought a unit and in the process of making some videos. Have a look here: https://radardetectortestinguk.wordpress.com/

Please don't shoot the messenger! Not done anything like this before. It's not very scientific, but I did enjoy the tests and write-up. Next I will want to test motorways for gantry cams and HADECs.

The unit seems nicely made. Being able to hand wave to silence works well. GPS locations seem good too - and the GPS alerts have been directional i.e. if you're facing a Gatso unit the GPS won't alert.

Most importantly I found out that if you set up the unit as per Genevo instructions - it won't give you any alert until you've driven past a digital Gatso! You have to switch K BAND filtering to low or off.

Hope it helps someone!

Great to see someone in the UK giving it a try!

Look forward to reading your review!

I opted for a neoline x-cop 8700s in the end. Jury is still out on my opinion as I’m having issues with UK GPS data and still working with their sales / developers 2 months+ in to get resolved...
