I'm back to loving the V1 too thanks to the V1G2, at least in our model 3 which has no custom installed system.

In my Model S I still have my Max360ci, and I kind of like the integrated stealthiness of it, and it performs well enough overall that I'm not looking to add anything in the cabin to supplement it.

But in the Model 3, I had been running the R7 since it came out. There's things I love and then things I don't particularly care for about it, and the V1G2 reminded me about all the things I really like about the V1.

Wait, didn't you post a thread about how much you were digging Redline EX? What happened? FWIW, I had two of them and the BSM filtering was so bad that it was unusable, even in AutoLoK and two of four K band segments enabled. While I don't NEEd a V1 Gen 2, I want one.

Do me a favor.... place your chosen on on the windshield in its best positions. Not tilted off slightly to the side, not completely level. Ok, I am acting like Monk the detective. OCD. However, eventuall, your GEN2 deserves the best place/position on the glass. You don’t ever want to be confused with a Cobra user, and end up with pictures on RDF Cobra EpicFail post. :)

Congrats On your choice!

How about I order a bracket mount by Blendmont, and attach it to the rear-view ?

I simply "fell out of love with the escort". Reason why because I use to be a former v-1 owner from 2008-2017. My old flashbacks re-surfaced of the good saves I had with the old v-1. Even though the escort has nice bells and whistles, with impeccable OLED Display, its a better trade off to have range and accuracy with the v-2 and the v-2 has bluetooth firmware updating. With my escort redline ex, I need to update via usb, which is archaic if you ask me.

There you go. Also, I now need to dig up the mount like a Blend For V1 that has a articulating set of arms, and very large sticky. I used that where I could tuck old V1 up in left hand corner drivers side of windshield. Made it easy to reach on one of my SUV. If you like your GEN2 on the left portion of your windshield, they still might make them. The suction cup mount separation I hear is same between gen1 and GEN2

I have my detector mounted high and tight above the RVM on the drivers side in both my 5 series and X5. Plenty of room above the RVM, and positioned properly hidden by the tint strip without interfering with the sunvisor or sunglass holder. The trim around the A pillars is easily removed (or just tuck the wire behind it with a trim tool) to run a hardwire from the passenger footwell fusebox up to the RVM for a nice clean install.

I'm waiting for the laser detection testing results before I pull the trigger.

For starters, the V1G2 was able to pick up the DE. As time goes on we will see more laser results, and I am thinking you will not be disappointed.

I have noticed that in all of your install photos, including test videos, that your V1 is slightly angled towards the ground.

Keep the detector level to the ground as best as possible; modern day smartphones even have gyroscopes with a leveling tool that can aid in this.

Similar to how radar/lidar operators requiring dead center leveling for best results, don't limit your RD!

Thanks for the advice my friend, and when my blend mount comes in i will be sure to install it, so that the detector has the ability to reach its full potential in terms of full range detection.

Thanks @GTO_04... please comfirm for the faithful, that our DE test with my DE included one thing: GEN2 was behind ceramic tint, 90% attenuation as a tint band on the Raptor windshield. Also, when you pointed at the Raptor from behind, the GEN2 also had to deal with added tint film on the back and side windows. I think those are running total of 25% pass through. We did not have huge distance on the parking lot. Even so, GEN2 worked well against the aim of GTO.

I have no idea if after market tint also attenuates in the 900ish NM area of laser. However, maybe it does affect auto laser distance systems. I do not get the falsing on laser reported by some on RDF.

I was driving around Northern NJ yesterday which has a high density of vehicle traffic, and mostly modern vehicles so lots of BSM and lots of stores with automatic doors everywhere. I was extremely pleased at the almost complete lack of alerts from these sources. In addition to blocking almost all BSM, I was also very pleased that Valentine has figured out how to prevent the alerts from automatic doors, until you are very close to the signal. I pretty much stopped using my V1 because of all the alerts, but am very happy with the Gen 2...also very happy that I was able to sell my 9 year old V1 for $285 on eBay.

That' why I also love the new v-2, because it has the ability to eliminate false threats very well. Plus it tends to hold its resale value very well.

It does for me. I slid my truck's back window (not side rear passenger windows but the window in the back of the cab) open recently, which is rare for me, and the V1 started going nuts alerting to laser. Huh? I pushed the switch and watch the window close behind me. Laser stopped. Then open again, laser starts, closed again, laser stops. It was the Mazda sitting at the light behind me, I think, causing the alert. I thought to myself, "Good." :)

Howdy: what are your settings? Very interesting that the new V1 is doing well against stationary signals.

You're going to love the Blendmount @HamSolo ... it's slightly fiddly to get exactly where you want it but once installed it's sweet.

It holds my V1G2 like a rock and within easy monitor/reach position.

Out of the box settings, haven't had much time to tinker. It doesn't alert to the stationary signals from the main road, but when you get into the plaza it does....much better than the old V1 which would pretty much be constantly alarming for a miles long ride.
