Post suggestions here.

One of mine:

Ka Alerts should remain longer in the dbase, e.g., a week. If multiple users come across the same alert within that week, then each user report adds another week until the 'max' of 1 Month is reached. Once the max duration (1 month for example) is reached then 1 week gets deducted if no alerts are reported and continue a week at a time until back to Zero. If another alert happens say at week 2 from the decline then another week gets added making it 3 weeks.

I assume most get concept I trying to describe. The time can be altered to 1 day or 2 days, but this way it's more worthwhile and much better than the couple of hours it currently holds it for.

Edit* 1 month would be too long now that I'm thinking about it. I week is sufficient, but the process which determines how long it stays as described above would be the same.

---------- Post added at 10:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 AM ----------

Also when Alerting to Live alerts a date stamp would be great, such as "Live Ka Reported 2 days ago"

It'd be way too cluttered if the alerts stayed for that long. Instead, maybe allow the user to set how long the alerts appear for.

My suggestion is allow the user to click (touch) on an alert from the history and get more info like the frequency

1 Month was an extreme example and I tweak the post before you post this :). 1 week would be a good point.

they arbitrarily changed the alert time to 4 hours or so earlier this week and they got flooded with complaints on their forum saying that it made Live useless from all the clutter.

As a result, they put it back to where it was originally. I doubt they will even toy with the notion of putting it at 1 week.

Wow! That is not good...hahahahahahahaha

I gotta rethink this whole Live and me thing :hmm: The concept is great, but it is lacking and if what you say is true then this will be a problem. Even if it takes off they and we are talking years here, 4hrs is still not enough time  It's all CJ's fault :shifty:

They changed it to see if a longer time was preferred and the reaction of its users, the community didn't like it so they changed it back.

Anything more than an hour or two is way too long, it needs to be LIVE alerts, not Trapster type alerts (That's what the defender database is for). Escort also needs to refine a few current features (They are working on them now) before we really implement new ones.

Over time I am sure the Defender database will start to save the most frequent speed traps (6+ confermations) and add them so there will be more permanent speed trap locations besides the LIVE alerts. We are starting to see actual saves produced by LIVE alerts and it will only improve in time and as Escort implements LIVE into new models.

I've spent a long time thinking about Live and it occurred to me that you don't need tons and tons of people on it. -Just another driver or two on your commute before you. Like an etherial rabbit

Sure more people is better, but a few people around your area on your commute (when time is essential) is fine

Yea... well I'm the rabbit- ALWAYS :shifty: Serves no purpose if there are no stored entries that are confirmed by multiple users or by the the over and over. This needs to happen regardless of what a user think as it is the smart approach. I've given good data here in DE (multiple confirmed known locations) only to have it removed a few hours later, whats the use for Live if good data isn't stored.

Why this wasn't applied from the get go is beyond me, but I do hope they realize this is needed. The only thing really good about Live is the RLC database at least that's something I can actually rely on.

I totally agree! There is a speedtrap function, but I've yet to get a speed trap alert. This would guarantee saves for Live users on one road I have in mind

x2. I have only ~6 people in my area and I get accurate LIVE alerts during the normal rush hours all the time. Off hours not so much, but one here and there.

Anything over an hour its unlikely the LEO is there anymore, but some like the Trapster approach so they are alerted to most frequent speed traps weather they are there are not.

It is applied, but at a very high vote level. They decreased it but everyone bitched they were getting tons of false speed trap locations. Escort owners tend to not want anything but real live alerts with no falses (Radar/laser or LIVE). I feel the same way, I really dont care if a speed trap us used all the time, I just want to know when there is an active cop there.

Then there should be a setting to not alert you for speedtrap locations.
Live is a powerful tool and should definitely be used to add speedtrap locations to the defender database after a certain number of live alerts are received in an area. If the user doesn't want to hear those alerts then give them the option to turn them off. This is one aspect of trapster that has live beat at this point IMO.

I thought the Live was hopeless- seriously, but the ability to turn on/off the 'false' for the CJ's out there is an excellent idea!

In good time. Once all the tweaks are made Escort can work on refining/merging the Defender database with LIVE and prioritizing the threshold for known confirmed speed traps.

But it will never be riddled with falses like the requests some have made, Escorts client base has screamed many times over about useless falses, we dont want them. Even in LIVE's current state and with enough users we will basically have our first cop detector with no falsing.

People are already reporting that Live's alerts are often false alerts (cop was moving, or someone reported a non LEO X or K band source as a LEO, etc).

Does Escort have plans for dealing with those types of issues so when one gets a Live alert, it's ALWAYS accurate and you WILL see the LEO there?

Auto-Learn is CRUCIAL. I got a K Band alert in an area that has many falses, that I had locked out. I didn't see a cop, so I figured it was just another door opener that wasn't within the initial lockout range, and I locked it out. WRONG. As soon as I turned at a stop light, there was a cop. I ended up following him for a good 5 miles, all while the Redline was showing the gray locked out window.

Also, I'm having issues with the Redline alerting when the signal that is being picked up, is gray on my screen. That's really starting to bug me...

Well its not a false alert if rel radar was picked up, even if they are moving. This is why a ~1hr live alert is needed.

This is one of the tweaks they are working on.

This happens to me as well, it gets annoying. Or the Redline will alert to the locked out signal for a brief second when it first receives it and then it's quiet, and the signal will be gray on the screen.

Yeah but this is the reason for miltiple confirmations within X time period/days and why the application should have a 'CJ' mode :) So that users like myself can take full advantage of what Live can do. Similar to how you are ok with the performance of the 9500CI and I rather the performance oriented StiR/Plus.

Give us options Escort :shifty:
