Also no MRCD detection
Wait, the 360c provides good MRCD detection? I wouldn’t have guessed that.

The V1G2 is a hands on type detector, you have to do things to get it the way you want it.
I don’t have one, but from all the reports I’ve seen, you can put it up on the windshield as it comes out of the box and work well for nearly everyone. The only thing you might want to change is which mode to put it in (leave it in Big L or change it to Little L). Install V1Driver or JBV1 once on your phone like you did, and never think about it again. As easy as the 360c and better to boot. Only thing “missing” is a camera database, and your navigation app probably has that covered already anyway.

Deacon, I believe Bluelinex meant the V1 Gen2 didn't yet have MRCD detection.

I don’t know if he meant that or not, but that’s not accurate. The V1, both Gen1 and Gen2, can detect MRCD, just not very well (turning off K filtering to pick it up sounds like a nightmare to me). I wasn’t aware of the 360c doing any better in that regard, but I don’t run into MRCD myself and also don’t own a 360/c, so I could be wrong. Based on everything else I know about the 360/c, it would surprise me if it did detect MRCD at all, much less well. Did they ever release an update l that was proven to allow IVT to be shut off completely? I forget.

As much as I hate Escort, the 360c provides better MRCD detection than the V1G2 and can actually identify it as such instead of just K band. Both are behind the Redline EX, R7, and Pro M/RC M.

Thank you for sharing. So it can’t do it well, but it can do it better than the V1–though that’s a very low bar to clear.

I don't really consider the V1 MRCD detection; the detector is functionally false alerting to what it thinks is a BSM. The Escort has more range but has been shown to be very buggy - but it does identify specifically MRCD as opposed to a generic k band alert.

I would never run either of them in an area that I faced MRCD in, they are both practically useless. A Redline EX would be a massive upgrade. Of course, the Redline EX would be a massive downgrade compared to the V1G2 in basically every other area.

This goes back to what Vortex says - there is no one best detector for everyone.

For now.

I own both 360c and GEN2. Use them both. Most of your Operational thoughts are accurate. The commenter is also correct about the 360c not needing attention. Right now, I make sure I have a GEN2 in whatever vehicle I am driving. at some point, if I hop in a vehicle that has the 360c, I will he ok running it. Mostly for the reasons the commenter stated.

I may need your expert help with V1 Driver. As it sits, there seems to be a delay (even in full logic mode) where Driver does not prevent G2 from alerting before going silent in lockout area. When I am on the phone, annoys the caller. These are in areas the 360c would be silent. Also, would like advice on tweaking Driver overall settings. Make sure I do not mess it up. Also, planning on picking up new Android on Wednesday. Try JBV1.

If someone asked me “which one is most fire and forget”. That narrow question, 360c wins by a nose. However, for the moment, I am infatuated with the GEN2. G2 has much better real street range..... And it’s BSM performance to date has been better than 360c (which is hard to do). Love the G2 classic/retro display presentation. Forgot how good it really is. No “Tokyo by night” display like they used to call some Japanese dashboards. 360 OLED gets close to that description.

thanks for all the info comparing v1 & theia. Both have a place in the ongoing cat & mouse dance.

Jon, if you permit an indiscret question : seeing the Vgen2, beeing still in the elaboration, did you take some inspiration/hint either marketing or the Theia design itself?
