Here's one that's sure to come up sooner or later:

Euro mode isn't required to detect K-band signals < 24.050 GHz. With Custom Frequencies enabled and an appropriate K-band sweep, USA mode detects down to 23.908.

I wouldn't recommend it. The Max360 is not stealth so the V1G2 would be able to see its emissions.

The V1G2 is stealth and has LNAs, but we still do not know if it's truly RF stealth, or if it's just using digital sweep randomizing tactics to evade Spectre.

At the Discretion of V1 Personnel Confirming Warranty Status;

* Special Discount for all V1s still under the original factory one-year-from date-of-purchase warranty
: This additional discount of $50 will be applied when the V1 to be upgraded is received and determined by Valentine Research's sales records to be within the original warranty period. The final upgrade price will then be $339, providing a $160 discount from the $499 everyday price of a new V1 Gen2.

And frank od5!

I Don't Think the Old V1 Gen1 "Remote Audio Adapter" Will Work With V1-Gen2 Radar Unit!
Its Internal Command Components
Aren't Compatible With the V1-Gen2! No Dual Whiz Wheel Anymore!
Which Is Why V1 Is Making A New "1" With Matching Command Circuitry!

Lastly;

UPGRADE PROPOSAL FOR YOUR

Serial Number XXXXXXXXXX

Your V1 has been superseded by the all-new Valentine One Generation 2. We recommend that you upgrade.

Our Instant Upgrade works like this: As soon as we receive your old unit (in operable condition with no tampering of the serial number) we'll exchange it for a brand-new, current-production V1 Gen2. This is our way of assuring you'll be without V1 protection for the shortest time.

Price: $389* plus shipping

Why is this UPGRADE so costly: V1 Gen2 is an entirely new security instrument that outperforms by a clear margin even the most highly-evolved version of V1. So our Instant Upgrade is, in fact, an entirely new level of radar-seeking technology with all of the accessories you would get with a full-price purchase, provided to you at an $110 discount. We appreciate your loyalty.

* Special Discount for all V1s still under the original factory one-year-from date-of-purchase warranty: This additional discount of $50 will be applied when the V1 to be upgraded is received and determined by Valentine Research's sales records to be within the original warranty period. The final upgrade price will then be $339, providing a $160 discount from the $499 everyday price of a new V1 Gen2.

Here's what you’ll get:

All new radar and laser detector: Inside the all-new magnesium case is an all-new, and patented, radar-seeking engine, adapted from a concept used by military CHIRP radars to find fainter targets farther away with higher precision. New SAW D2L-technology ups the scan rate to hundreds of times per second.

Longer Range: Ka-band Range is impressively better in V1 Gen2. K-band range is also improved. Our new SAW D2L and LNA technologies enable a substantial range increase over traditional V1.

Fewer Radar False Alarms: V1 Gen2 introduces K-Verifier technology to improve resistance to Blind Spot Detection systems in new cars. K-Verifier also extends to K-band a technique that we’ve proven over the years against X-band to reduce annoyance from automatic store door openers.

New Operating Controls: V1 Gen2 has a simplified control set consisting of top-mounted buttons for “Volume +” and “Volume -.” A front-mounted Control Button replaces the Control Knob of V1. These buttons are easier to use while wearing gloves and simplify programming procedures.

Improved Display Legibility: V1 Gen2 has our time-proven display with the Arrows and the Bogey Counter. To improve contrast and readability in bright sun conditions we’ve added a violet color filter. The back-lit band indicators now spell out the band(s) being detected.

Easier, Quicker Upgrade Procedure for V1 Gen2: When firmware upgrades are indicated at some point in the future, they will be downloadable to your Apple or Android smartphone or tablet, which connects wirelessly to V1 Gen2 through its built-in Bluetooth 5.0.

Wireless Connectivity: V1 Gen2 comes with built-in Bluetooth 5.0, enabling a wireless connection to your Apple or Android smartphones and tablets. Our free app—V1Connection, the app—can run on your device, giving you a revolutionary new way of analyzing the live stream of threat information flowing from V1 Gen2. You’ll also have access to future firmware upgrades and other third-party apps.

Stealth breakthrough: V1 Gen2 is much less detectable by Radar-Detector Detectors. New range-improving LNA technology also blocks internally generated signals from reaching significantly beyond your car.

Adapted for Engine Stop-Start Vehicles: V1 Gen2 includes our built-in BOB, the Brown-Out-Booster. This keeps V1 Gen2 operating smoothly during voltage dips caused by automatic engine restarts.

Earphone Connection: V1 Gen2 includes a built-in earphone socket for private sound awareness. Bring your own earphone with a 3.5mm jack. Nothing further required.

New Magnesium Case: V1 Gen2 has a new magnesium case with a thinner profile to lessen view blockage. The new case also has an acoustic grill to protect the sound transducer.

Complete with standard V1 accessories:

  • Newly-designed windshield mount with new suction cups.
  • Newly-designed visor mount.
  • New Lighter Power Adapter.
  • New Direct-wire Power Adapter.
  • New coiled cord.
  • New straight cord.
  • New wire-harness connector.
  • New Quick Start Guide and downloadable Owner's Manual.
  • Spare fuse.
  • Spare suction cups.
  • Dual-Lock fastener.

One-year limited warranty, same as new units, starting at Upgrade date.

Unfortunately, there's only a window of about 3 weeks worth of buyers that can cash in on that extra $50 trade in...

This new iteration on the V1 seems legit on every front, tbh. There's a lot of "the old way of doing things" that's been left in the rubbish bin. I am honestly surprised VR is letting go of the $79 upgrade model they have had for so long, but that's truly a blessing and welcome change.

The V1 fans have a lot to be thankful for, cheers to you all! :drinking:

I drove it in the corvette today and was shocked how quiet it is. The filters are unbelievable. Things that set off everything before just completely quiet. It's so quiet that I was wondering if it was working or not. I came across no cops so can't tell you on that. Tomorrow maybe lol

I sent my extra one in this morning for the same reason. I bought a 3.893 that I planned to upgrade and then a day later I found an up to date one. So the old one has been sitting for a few months waiting to be updated. If i get $360 I'll break even.

FYI if you do upgrade the unit prior to selling, the 1 year warranty is non-transferable. May be worth mentioning to the person and offering to handle warranty claims for them if needed.
It's still a good detector, don't lose sleep over it

Has anybody with a new v1 and a Blend Mount tried to use the new windshield mount to attach to the Blend Mount? IE is it comparable or is it going to require a new adapter?
The old Blendmount works just fine.

Has anyone hardwired or mirror tapped their G2? Reason I ask is I no longer run my V1 G1 due to my auto start/stop in my truck. The G1 will reboot when the truck restarts but Escort detectors are not affected by this. I was curious if the G2 also restarts with auto start/stop enabled.
I have a mirrortap. V1 turns on when car started and off when car shuts off.

I put my serial # in (3.8952) and it they give a $110 credit for it. While not as much as I would hope for being the latest version of the Gen 1 it's better than nothing. Either way, I could easily get double that on ebay so I'm not complaining.

Thanks for the great well-written new GEN2 insight. I sent in today my early release GEN1 SW Rev 3.826 and ordered a new GEN2. My current late model SW Rev 3.8945 ESP I will hang on to.

If this has been covered elsewhere, I apologize. Looked for it but couldn't find it...

I've been running a hardwired V1 with BT dongle (with JBV1) for years. If I start using the new V1 Gen2, can I leave the original BT dongle installed or will it create connection issues for the Gen 2 unit? I don't want to go digging it out from under the dash if I can leave it there (and swap V1 units once in a while without messing with it).

Maybe I should have posted this in the JBV1 section but I guess either there or here is appropriate.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you don't want to pull it out, Leave it in. Your V1G2 will only try to connect with 1 BT, and it will work either way

I'm personally putting together a care package of V1.1 mounts, etc that I won't need with the V1.2

It appears that connecting a dongle disables the internal B/T. But I'm going to unplug the dongle and keep it handy in case the V1 B/T ever fails.

Thanks for doing this. Can you please add a link/section to V1G2 internal pics?

Thats a wonderful idea. If anyone has had a Jeep Wrangler The win shield is nearly vertical. The Valentine mount does not work. Until I decided for Frankenstein 2 of the mounts. I carefully cut the suction cup posts off of one mount. Then placed them over the other posts. Using the vehicle I scribe'd a line where they needed to be glued or plastic welded together. A little sanding and it worked like a champ.

how do you check the version number of a V1 gen1? I think it used to show on the upgrade site, but now it just talks about $110 upgrade discount
