I am new to the Radar Detection game looking to buy my first Radar Detector.
I ordered a Max 360C direct from Escort, it's currently in route via FedEx to be delivered 3/4/20.
After reading about the sleeping/lock-up issues and now seeing the videos on Theia, I'm going to cancel my Max 360C order.
I'm thinking I will pick up a used Uniden R3 to bridge the gap until Theia is available. I signed up for the email list for Pre-Order announcements.

Good choice, the R3 will serve you well while you wait!

That's great that you've got a detector to keep you covered in the meantime. The R3 is a great detector too, but it's a very different detector than the 360c. The Escort's lockups are pretty disconcerting, but it does look like the latest firmware has largely, if not completely, resolved that issue.

Either way, I completely agree that Theia is looking more and more like THE detector to get once it comes out.

I would go even further to save you some money, I ran an r1 and a max360 I’d save even more more get an r1 until theia comes out. I like the 360 but since you’re new and theia is coming out soon I’d stick with an r1

I usually only order after members here have vetted it thru testing. A good product will stand on it's open against independent testing. An overhyped, overmarketed product won't.

I feel as though I got a little bit bitten by the Uniden R7. It's not that it's a bad unit, but I don't think it performs $200 better than the R3 and that's because the unit can't control the falsing in it's rear horn as well as the single horn R3. I bought before the unit had been tested as thoroughly as needed to identify that problem. I since stopped holding out hope the engineering department is going to get control of it before something new and better comes out.

When Theia drops, I'd like to hope I can sit patiently on the sidelines and wait for V1 vs. Theia shootouts before I think about a $500 vs. $1000 cashectomy.

We will be posting comparison videos between all the popular legacy radar detectors vs Theia before pre-orders so people can really see what Theia can do. We already have a V1 Gen 2 as well.

This would be a first.

A radar detector manufacturer releasing tests against the competition before its for sale.

You guys sound pretty confident. Can’t wait.

If I can make one request, please set up Theia so software & firmware updates can be done without having to deal with Zip file or Bin files ect......
For the love of God I just want to plug it in and let the App do the rest.

I believe they have confirmed Theia will have WiFi, which should allow painless and quick (or even automatic) updates, similar to what Escort already does with their 360c.

Jesus, that just sounds painful.
Please, no fisting...
Thanks..... you know, some people probably have the capabilities to change it on their end...... but noooooo.

Thanks for the “Heads” up. I changed to something more appropriate and less provocative.... 😂
