"Hey, hold my knob, how does it feel?" -- Jon

:p

I'm wondering about handling knobs with wet hands also.

I like this decision. Buttons on the top and side have never been comfortable to use on a radar detector. I’m always worried I will put too much pressure on the mount or bend my permanent mount because my R3 is tight on the headliner. A front mounted knob solves this issue for me.

On a serious note, I'm very happy about this choice of interface. This will function a lot like what I proposed for a new menu system for the R7.

For a suggestion that may have already been thought of by Radenso, aside from the knob and being able to scroll to select a menu option that functions as "back" or "exit", additionally having a separate button function as "back one level" and another as "menu escape" would make whipping through settings super fast. IOW, the option shows up on the screen and can be selected with a button press but there is a "shortcut" to escape with another button.

I use these shortcuts on my scanner constantly.

Really enjoying these deep dives.
One of my devs popped into my office and asked what I was watching.
I said: "A video with this guy talking about how he wants his knob to have the right feel..."
Now I'm just waiting for HR.

It is almost like we have been long time radar enthusiasts.... who knew? Haha

I usually hate this phrase but... sorry but not sorry! haha

It's good to see others with an obsessive attention to detail ailment that they have to work through.

@Jon at Radenso I see you've grown to appreciate the idrive system in the BMW and see how easy it is to rotate/press to go between menus/options. Incredible work dude. Best way to get it done

People become more and more lazy over time, but nothing bad in that. It's good that premium product will also have some comfort :)
