Unusual question. I know.

I live in the large oval area stretching east to west through N Kansas/ E Colorado/ SE Wyoming/ S Nebraska where many people have reported seeing large drones of unknown origin and purpose, sometimes in large groups. flying a scanning pattern. I have recently heard that they MAY BE emitting a radar signal, which can be picked up by a radar detector, and this signal, if it exists, may help us in sleuthing out their purpose.

Has anyone using Highway Radar in this area noted an increase in seemingly unexplainable radar detector alerts beginning early December 2019 to the present (Early February 2020 ) ?

The hypothesis is the drones may be using radar for mapping or search purposes.

for:

According to [ https://airbornescience.nasa.gov/category/type/Radar] , the primary radar bands used for airborne radar studies are Ku (~13.8 GHZ), Ka (~35.6 GHz), and W band (~94 GHz)...
Note that this platform uses simultaneous Ku and Ka band, both of which happen to be ranges radar detectors can pickup. A V1 is the only detector I know of offhand that can scan Ku band in addition to Ka band, however.

So - any one driving around especially out in the middle of nowhere in those states getting unusual alarms with no police around ?

If so, where does it happen and what RD do you use and what band did it alert on ?
