Looking to get a detector for my wife I found Vortex on YouTube. He kept referring to this forum so I thought I would have a look. After reading a while I decided to get my wife the Uniden R3 (and one for myself too). I was originally looking at the Uniden DFR9 at Costco but in the end with all of the advice here went with the R3. Happy so far with all the settings help and advice. Thanks for that. Already I wish I had the ALP system so that will be a goal for the spring.

After reading for the last two weeks I have to confess something now. I drive an Acura. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon but at least I know more now for the future. Ha.

Looking forward to learning more and participating. It’s been many many years since I have had a detector. I gave up long ago when it would just go off all the time for what never seemed to be anything real. Times have changed and happy to be back with the R3.

Welcome to RDF!
Glad you're enjoying your R3!............and as far as your Acura is concerned...... --"May the fleas of a thousand camels invade the BSM of your Acura. And may it's mechanic's arms be to short too scratch

Thank you. I thought I would just go ahead and get it out of the way on the Acura. Now that I have been looking at ALP I would have maybe picked something else with a flatter grill and less BSM issues but that is for another time several years from now. Ha.

You are not alone. I drive a 2019 RDX with a R7 and am enjoying both! The SH-AWD is really nice when driving on the twistes.

Oh and my wife has a 2018 C-RV to boot! Welcome and happy new year----

I have a 2016 MDX, planning to get the wife a 2019 RDX. I'm not sure what mine would do but I have been reading up to see what to expect. I just got the R3 and like others waiting to see what becomes of the Radenso. If its going to be a while I might do the R7 just to play with other options. I also just installed a permanent mount near the mirror in the fritz, too bad the mount has to change. I assume the R7 mount will work with the R3 but not the other way around due to length of the tab. If so, I might swap my mount while I wait to see what is next.

Welcome to the RDF!

R3 is a great first RD. Check the Uniden Section then look for R3 posts on how some custom setting can help if it is a little to chatty for your liking.

If you don't mind, what part of the Country are you in? My Costco only offers two Escort models the iX and Max II.

West TN, they have the DFR9 in the stores in Memphis and online.

As for chatty, no issues really other than what is to be expected. I started with the suggestions from Vortex and modified a little from there with segmentation.

Thanks. Already wish I had a grill like the Audi Q5 with the flat slats. I will find a way once I'm ready for the ALP to get it installed. Ha.
