Good day everyone!
Just my luck... i figure "i haven't updated in a while, lets take a look!" So i get the latest version of the detector tools from Escort (1.12.2) and go to update my 9500i (not the ix version) and its bricked. I guess this is a common issue, however its usually recoverable, except for me. I can get the unit to boot to USB mode without issue by holding MRK + BRT and it shows up in detector tools, so i push the software again all goes successfully, then i close the software and my detector makes a ticking noise and the cable lights flash.
Dont have the coin to spend on a new detector... did i just make myself a pretty paperweight by following the directions?

Update!
After spending 3 hours trying to revive my poor little brick, i have it fixed.
i downloaded the previous version from Escort Link Here it worked! you need to click on where it says 1.11.131 for windows and itll download a hidden older version that saved my little guy.
So happy! now back to detecting!

It’s not much, and you may have already done this (specifically the MRK & BRT part), but I found this on the Escort forum. It looks like it’s for the ix and ci, but in post #2, it does mention 9500i at one point also.

Edit: disregard this post. Was typing while you were posting your update. Glad it’s fixed!

I appreciate the help! I had found that post earlier and slightly ruled it out since everything was fine prior to the update, i hadn't had a power cable issue in the past.

I actually just updated my ix and I think I ran into a similar/the same issue as you. I hadn't updated my detector in years. After updating, I now get a power reset after about 20 minutes. Given that it's been working fine for YEARS and the update is what bricked mine, I'm curious as to what steps you followed to fix yours. At the very least I should be able to restore the old firmware on the device, but I can't even figure out how to do that on their forums. The company seems to just push their newer products on you rather than admitting that they messed up somewhere in code. With my engineering background, I have a huge issue with that. If you search the internet (as I should've done before the update), you will see loads of people with issues and yet I see responses from their sales people saying that the 9500ix is end of life. For me, Waze + my 9500ix has been working fine and I personally don't need anything more sophisticated.

I downloaded the 1.11.131 version you suggested and just clicked the update button at the bottom. It said that I already had that version installed. I clicked update anyways. That didn't seem to fix my issue. So that's why I'm wondering.
