Will Whistler still make radar detectors?

I went over to the Whistler website today and noticed that many of their radar detectors are sold out, including the CR97 and CR95 along with a whole bunch of lower end models. This along with their post from SEMA which shows none of their new products, makes me think Whistler might be leaving the RD game. Either that or they are completely revamping their RD line up. It is weird that so many RDs are out of stock especially with the upcoming holiday season. Whistler has not significantly upgraded their RDs in the while. It appears that they are still using the REV C platform with lots of tinkering to maximize performance. Anyone think they are leaving the RD business?

Didn't the CRs come out pretty recently, as far as radar detector companies go? And those were a significant upgrade over the junk they had previously. They're not *great* but they were way better than the previous ones. I wouldn't count them out until the go another 5-10 years without releasing anything, unless there's news stating otherwise.

The same thing that VR has. Something RDF members claim are volume control related. Call Whistler, and same lady will say “two weeks”!

serious... guess until something new comes out from the,, they are going dark slowly like VR has?

I believe their CR series was basically their REV C platform Pro 78SE/XTR-690/695SE with updates such as TFSR and FSDR and ability to detect VPR laser guns. The CR85 came out back in 2013 when I purchased it. I really liked the detector, but I didn't see much performance gains compared to my old XTR 690se. The CR 97 I own is likely also a Rev C with some tweaks to squeeze out more performance. I really like Whistler and I hope they don't go away, but it's pretty suspicious when all of their models are sold out and not being replenished.

Whistler has a new line up coming.
Jag, all of those Pro78 videos you did back in the day were amazing! That's what got me into Whistler back then!

If I remember correctly, Whistler either has a fairly new patent or patent application for filtering BSM too!

So if my memory serves me right and with the new lineup coming out, maybe good things are ahead for a company like Whistler!

I can't remember if the patent was from a few years ago, so some of that tech might already be implemented in current Whistler RDs.

I had a sleek looking Whistler back in the mid 90s. It was better than my father's Uniden in every way.

I truly hope they stay in business and revert back to making quality detectors.

Between my 2nd generation Cincinnati Microwave Escort & my 1st generation Passport I had a Whistler Spectrum. This would be mid '80's. It worked well, only reason I got rid of it was because the excellent Passport came out. Fast forward to today. I suppose Whistler has a small market share in RD sales, and if that works for them, that's fine. But I too would like to see them back in the game with some competitive merchandise.

Circa 1940s??
lol, actually late 70s - crazy feature on that detector was the flip switch on the front to discern between x and k bands. The alerts were never long enough to try that feature out.

My father had one of those in the 1970’s. This Whistler, the RE-55XK, is what got my interest started in radar detectors. I have one of these in my collection of old X&K detectors from the 70’s and 80’s.

I would also like to see Whistler introduce a new line of detectors with some significant quality control (no bugs) and performance improvements over the CR95/CR97 series. Hopefully there is something good on the horizon from Whistler.

Well when their top of the line new RD comes out I will be buying it. Hopefully they fix the k/ka band confusion. I would be completely happy with my current cr97 if they fixed this issue. Jag's old pro 78se videos showing it picking up I/O from like 3 miles out got me really excited about whistler.

I had CR97. Super sensitive! They just need to figure out the filtering...

Well I'll be damned! Look what the cat dragged in! Hello @Marty K ! I'll also be picking up a new Whistler if they fix the bugs even though my V1G2 is crushing it for me! I would really love to see how damn good the CR97 could be with the bugs worked out.
