Have you been / will you be able to gather data on Multanova 6F?
I am not certain but I don't believe so (I could be missing info). It'll be a road trip to EU to collect that data.

Just wondering if you (Radenso Team) have thought about adding a feature that users can opt into or out of for automatically reporting errors back to Radenso whenever Theia is connected to a device/computer with internet connectivity?

Perhaps, this could be deployed in an update after Theia is released if time doesn't permit in your current development schedule.

If something like this just can't happen for whatever reason, could you provide the path to the logs so, we can email them to you if we the users run into some type of bug or any other anomalies we may run into?

Also, will we have root privileges in Theia's Linux OS?

Yes, that was something that Randy has been requesting for a while. It was born out of frustration not being able to see what settings our current detectors were on when troubleshooting (customers always swear they didn't touch settings even when they did), as well as desiring to see a self-test report come to us. We didn't talk about doing it automatically yet, we were planning on eventually just having a button in an app that would send it to us.

Might want to think about assigning a UUID per Theia, matching that to purchasers/warranty registration via your CRM tool and letting customers upload logs etc as they feel like or as Theia is attached to a network that can reach the internet. You'd have a rich bit of data to mine for patterns of issues, have a record on hand if a customer calls in, or at the very least already have a way of transferring and ID-ing the data per customer. Lots more detail to make it work but the rough outline is there...

Sounds a lot like a Escort Live Patent.

Does it? Which and how?
The sharing of alerts through a network.

I know that he added other things, but I think there was something in an Escort patent about how the detector was used or chain of them and a network.

I do really like the idea of being able to have a way of uploading different threats for analysis..... but there’s was something I heard that might encroach on the Escort Live patent.

@Jon at Radenso. ??

Agree, user logs might be good for Theia to reduce/eliminate those annoying simple calls to your support line.

I didn't suggest sharing the alert info between customers, just gathering it for Radenso's use in analysis. If it were me and I was building this whizbang network capable device you better believe I'd be collecting data like I was Google.

All,

We have a ton of ideas for Theia but right now we are trying to just get the basics covered. Trust me, almost all of these ideas we have thought of already that we want to implement down the road.

I would be shocked if you didn't.

Depending on how you do software upgrades or product registration you might want to have a UUID that's not a MAC address figured out before you ship. Again, if it were me I'd have it burned into the firmware and tied to the user when they first bring it online and register the unit (in order to get future software updates) even if I wasn't going to implement telemetry uploads any time soon. I'd do it almost like a multifactor login where the unit and it's UUID is the thing you have and your Radenso Username, Password and order number are the something you know. Then you could brick stolen units and all kinds of additional things....just rambling out ideas here, feel free to ignore or use at your discretion.

People have risked their investment to create Theia. I'm sure you guys have noted the number of people in this forum who are ready to buy. Thank you for taking the risk to bring promises to be a major upgrade. I have very high expectations and your technical presentations give me confidence. When Theia delivers, you should have lots of new business. When the power users spread the word Radenso will find customers who have never heard of the company. Your excitement shows in the videos. I know a number of people who'd pay a good price for a super quiet, long range, easy to use RD. People who gave up due to noise.

Again, thanks for risking the big money I know this project required. Win big!

I am curious about something and I haven't seen this mentioned, so my question to Jon - have you done thermal tests so far? I mean how much the CPU and other components generate heat at maximum load at high temperatures. From what I have seen in videos so far you do not have any heatsinks on top of any components, is it because they do not generate enough heat for that to matter, even in scenarios where a user might not be using A/C during a hot sunny day?

Watch today’s video. He talks about how they’re stacked, heat sinks, and how the aluminum case will act as a heat sink as well

Checkout their latest digitizer video. The horn basically acts like a big heat sink all by itself.

I've always wondered the effects of extreme temps on any RD both in performance(Jon did mention heat doesn't help with SNR in the SNR vid) and reduction of useful service life

Gotta think of users in places like Phoenix AZ or desert environment at high noon, middle of summer, crystal clear skies, and 110F+ air temps and the RD mounted on the windshield getting roasted by the sun. This can't be good even with A\C on for any RD.

Anyway, I'm sure they have thought about this and chose hardware that is up to the task of performing well under such extreme conditions.

Exactly. Automotive environmental factors are known, and people have been making vehicle electronics for ages. High heat and vibration are not friends of any electronics, but manufacturers are capable of designing to operate nominally. I’m sure they’re being taken into account, including automatic shutoff if pushed beyond sustainable limits.

Thanks for continuing to share these videos, taking us along the journey. I dont understand much about the content, but am impressed by the thought process and decisions you are making on each component, building this amazing machine for today and into the future...
