Hi all,

I've run up and down the NJ turnpike 6 times with the new firmware, and it's not my imagination: Ka is less sensitive. No idea why, as that wasn't supposedly touched. But after 7 alerts which I'm familiar with plus 2 vehicle stops--- I'm going to try to roll mine back.

Anyone else notice any difference in Ka??

Thanks!

Factory reset and exact same settings ?

I don't recall hearing anything about reduced KA. That would not be good.

I have all 4 of my R1's on 1.50 from 1.37 and they are just as sensitive on all bands as before both on off axis and range. I bench tested them all too and they are also just as fast against I/O shots as well as Q/T. All 4 have incredible range just like always.

No change noted on Mine when i upgraded to 1.50... but you can easily roll back if you desire, uniden gives you that option. 1.37 is still a solid firmware

Yep, nice part about Uniden is the option to roll back. That being said, I doubt it's less sensitive. You can't know that without doing a controlled test. Going up and down the turnpike is anecdotal at best. Along with your imagination, traffic, weather and positioning of the radar sources can have major effects on perceived range.

You'd need at least 3 runs on a stationary radar source that isn't terrain limited with each FW version before you could really make an argument that it's less sensitive.

Agreed. I remember seeing some TXCTG testing done with different firmwares and the results were the same.

Didn't notice any change when I installed 1.50. Any chance Ka sensitivity got turned down in the settings when you were upgrading the firmware?

Yep... I tried the most recent firmware on my R1 and went back to 1.37 yet again so yeah definitely the most solid, reliable and consistent firmware! :lolhit:

No difference with mine either from 1.37 to 1.5 in any testing I have done.

I am not sure why anyone would be seeing less range... try reloading firmware and resetting to see if it resolves the issue. I think 1.5 is the best firmware so far based on the combination of the performance and selectable options including K block, etc. I know some people say that 1.37 has some "magic" but I never noticed any difference and it doesn't have K block, and I don't know how anyone lives without some kind of filter with those frequencies.

On the R1, noticed 1.50 is definitely quieter than other firmwares. Spent the day with it running around- no hits for performance guesstimates but definitely handled the BSM a lot better.

I had the same problem with ka also. This has happen on other fw as well. I go back and reload the same fw but with recovery mode. That fixes it everytime for me and still do your factory reset. Hope that helps but not going to say that will fix it. Just give it a try. One other thing to try is still reload it in recovery mode but with a different cable.

Nothing noticed on my R1 with 1.5 as far as poor range- seems the same

35.5 continues to amaze with both great and short detections based on road curves and road clutter

Yep... if anything I'm getting more Ka alerts than normal since I updated last week. Only thing now is with the notch filter I don't have every CRV in the state sending a K band ICBM to my R3.

Mine is as well. the 1.5 works like a champ. the only difference is the increase in 24.100 K band hits.

I updated about a week ago to 1.5 and have been seeing a good bit of 24.100ish also. What is up with that?

Do you have MRCD enabled? And do you see a Mercedes around when it happens?

What didn't you like exactly on 1.50?

Nobody mentioned I don’t think but Ka 34.7 and Ka 35.5 are not comparable. I get blistering long range on 34.7 with weird shorter range on 35.5 with hills, curves, and other road obstructions.

If you are use to experiencing 34.7 and then encounter 35.5, you may notice a detection range difference.
