I'll bet K band will be beyond noisy from gas stations to BSMs...

Sorry, no good in today's environment.
Look at the cheap Uniden DFR series.

If you are a glutton for being annoyed by constant beeping.. run them.

As mentioned above, neither has any BSM filtering, and they both only pick up X and K band. Neither picks up laser or Ka band. I would imagine the Escort DSP still would offer solid protection against X and K band, but if face have any Ka band, it would be silent which isn’t a good thing. Both were strong performers “ back in the day.” I owned both of these detectors when I was younger. In fact, I still have both of these in my collection of older radar detectors, but I haven’t tried running either one of these recently.

Solid choice at a great price! Share your thoughts on it after you’ve had some seat time with it. Enjoy!

Any "vintage" detectors with Ka band support? I've been thinking it might be kind of cool to toss something period correct into my e30. I grab my 360c if I think I'll need it. Would mainly be for around town trips.

On second thought, maybe V1 is the answer. Period correct looks, but modern performance. Guess I'll just have to wait two weeks...

Just happened to see this post. OP, here is some data directly related to Escort DSP. I brought mine alone for fun testing in a Kustom HR uber low power shoot out. Good stuff in this test. We did test the DSP against the best of today’s windshield mounts. There is no Ka band capability with the Passport or the DSP. You know that already. Anyway. Hit the link to see how the DSP did.

for your viewing pleasure some old “Cincy Microwave” porn video. Uber “quick trigger” testing of how fast the Passport and DSP react. And they don’t interfere with each other:

I bought an original Cincinnati Microwave Escort when they came out circa 1979, it was a game changer. Next I bought the upgraded model and kept it for a few years. After that, the car magazines of the day were giving high marks to the Whistler Spectrum, I bought one, it worked well but it didn't seem to be better than my Escort 2.0. THEN, Cincinnati Microwave came out with the original Passport, the one featured in your photo. I got one right away, threw my Whistler out the window, and ran my Passport until Ka came out. I loved it. If Cedar/Escort were to make a look alike unit that had filtering, Ka & laser, I'd buy it in a second.

If you do buy an old DSP make sure the Unlock Key is included. Every 30 or so hours of operation the DSP required a chip key to be inserted to unlock it or it would shut down. It was an anti-theft measure.
