The R7 was built with MRCD in mind, being able to scan down to 23.950, unlike the R1/R3 that can only scan down to 24.050 (this is due to hardware limitations that the R1/R3 has, but the R7 does not. As far as performance, MRCD detection seemed to do well on firmware 1.46, but then took a step backwards on firmware 1.48. This lack of performance seemed to carry over to the R7. So while different hardware helped the R7 in one sense (scanning lower), the rest seems to be software based. I’m no expert though, just my 2 cents.
