It looks like I'll be getting an x band gun sometime next week. I think ill try to set it up on a four lane highway and do some long range and maybe some off axis testing. I'm going to try to find some place where I can hide my battery pack in the weeds where it wont grow legs and walk away. Detectors testing over a couple days will be redline o and ex, max360c 360o, radneso, cobra pro 360 road scout, Whistler cr 97 and 95, ixc, gt360, belgt1, v1, pretty sure that's all I have in my bag of goodies. UPDATE: SEEMS SOMEONE IS IN TO SICK JOKES. I WONT BE GETTING THE GUN AFTERALL, AT LEAST FOR NOW .

Better have a long testing range. X band "carries" for a long distance. For off axis testing try a curve etc. Last department using X band - old CMI Magnum - I could detect it for 5 miles. With 2 hills and a curve between the LEO and my vehicle. Hill topping would get a alert then lost it going into the valley only for it to reappear topping the other hill. It was funny to get a X band alert these days. He use to catch a lot of people with that old radar gun.

Aww, sorry to hear that. I guess you can keep an eye out on eBay for one? There's some used X band Python III antennas on there now. You could pick up a Python III or ask if someone has one of those on a different frequency and use it for testing.

I'm glad you're trying to do more testing like this. Truth be told we could use more testers willing to step up and help us fill in the gaps in our understanding. I'm always grateful to see you taking the initiative to test and find out so we can all benefit. :)

Let me know if you wish to own a X band MPH Python . I have 3 of them and need to 'thin' down the herd. They'll be priced pretty cheap. Single horn setup. I'll have to dig them out and retest them - they been in a box for awhile. Take care spin

Please, if possible, include Uniden R1 or R3 in the line of testing. It would be curious for us to see how it behaves normally and off axis with city and highway modes, if there is significant gap between these 2 modes and eventually advanced. Please, see my serious incidence in City mode on X band that I just posted here.
