Anyone know why I got a ka alert and then it would not alert to subsequent ka alerts right after? I was going fast enough to not hit quiet mode so I'm confused... It was silent, no alert but did show on the screen.

Did you mute the initial alert? If subsequent alerts are close to the same frequency I believe the mute holds.

No I didn't. Sorry I should have noted that. Also I was very impressed with the distance. I had a cop heading towards me on a 2 lane road. 55 zone and I had plenty of warning before I saw him.

I'm confused..... If it stopped alerting, how did you know it failed to alert?

Ah, now i get it. Is auto mute on and see you check it's volume setting?

It's set to volume 2 but I'm 99% sure I didn't make any sound. Maybe I'll raise it and test some more. Normally I can still hear it on volume 2 but it couldn't hurt to raise it a couple. Good advice. Thanks

By any chance, did you have auto mute set to 0? I do this with my R3 when with I'm with my wife, I get an initial alert audible and then it's silent after that. I just glance over at the strength indicator to gauge where things are at until I see the cop or it finally fades away to nothing.

Are you sure it was Ka band? Based on your settings you described and how it muted the alert, looks like it was a K band signal.

If it was Ka band with auto mute at 2, you will still get an muted audible alert. Some audio alert depending on which one you choose from 1-12 can be very faint when set auto mute at 2. What was your Ka band alert type?

OP says auto mute at 2. I've been doing the same method now and cuts off a lot of unnecessary, unwanted noise specially now with the R7 with bigger display, larger icons for strength signal and dark mode.

Could you post your settings so we can see how you have the R7 configured?
The only time I have seen Ka not have an audible alter is if have muted a prior alert. (Side note, has anyone tested if you have muted K band and have a Ka come in? I don't recall if that will mute the NEW Ka.)

It might be because your auto-mute is too low. I have mine at 2 as well and sometimes it is drowned out from the music. I really have to listen to it closely. I am still testing out the unit as I recently encountered a deadly I/O around a curve with trees everywhere so range was diminished and I had the feeling of a cop around the corner so I had slowed down. As soon as I turn the corner, the cop lights me up, but my unit was just beeping 1-3 bars and when I past him it got stronger. Was it FF or RF? It might of been due to the shrubbery, but not sure. Was a really good spot for I/O attacks. Also, make sure you have a tone that can get your attention and switch it to a more friendly tone when your with your girl.

I use vortex settings.

Yea this could be it, at least I hope. I'm going to test at volume 4.
