Anyone else want to chime in?
You whittled down Indiana “super wide band” reports of off frequency Ka radar by a few segments. The other sets I have seen reported more of a unicorn sighting(s)?

For the ER DSP products does not matter. The R series it does. I would like to shrink the segments down on them if the reports are off.

Are you talking about the Ka 9 in Indiana? Or other bands as well.
Tried getting an answer on it, but haven't. Any Ka 9 in Indiana? Real or Phantom?

Re: ER DSP products, is that because their scan cycles are so much faster?

Sounds too complicated and unlikely to happen in my opinion. I have never seen this in CA.

Last Friday(Aug 23rd), I saw an alert from JBV1 and HR for a CHP Cessna flying over I-80 around Vallejo and Cordelia. There were quite a few police reports along 780 and 80. Here's my attempt to illustrate what I remember of the flight path on JBV1.

CHP plans aircraft patrols to help nab speeders in Ventura County

There's this article from 2017 about CHP air patrol down here in Ventura county. I haven't actually witnessed any patrols in Ventura or LA counties, but they definitely do patrol along the central coast.

Here is the first time I saw CHP in the air from the HR app. It was around early July, in the Santa Barbara area. I got quite excited, so I took a screenshot. My guess is that they were patrolling the 101 between the Gaviota Pass and Goleta. I was working in Santa Barbara at the time, so I didn't actually go through that area. Since then, they've popped up a couple of times between Paso Robles and Salinas.

I've also seen alerts for various local agencies. San Mateo County Sheriff and Sacramento County Sheriff were the most recent ones.

Re: ER DSP products, is that because their scan cycles are so much faster?
On ER, when one segments, that only cuts the alert out. The radio scans super wide all the time. Does not speed up reaction time of the RD like the older analog Uniden, V1, and others. ER claims would not make any fast trigger or I/O difference to cut out the scanning of super wide into segmented chunks. So they say. However on EX segments are supposed to work to skip scanning segmented out bands... I think.. since it still is based on analog radio portion. Not sure of this.

Yea, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9 reports of out of tune around Indiana. @GTO_04 has better historical understanding of the reports around here. Vortex I think mentioned this in one of his videos.

Thanks

Had a few random blips here and there while driving through Lynn, but could never confirm anything. Sure enough, in this past week, I ran across 3 cruisers, all Stalkers, and smattered all over the frequency range. One bang on at 34.701, one in Segment 6 at 34.837, and one at the very edge of Segment 5 at 34.606. Stalkers aren't very common up here, but these guys look like they don't give a damn about the calibration of their units. With that last encounter, I'm a little nervous that I may need to turn Segment 4 on. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out, but we can further confirm Segment 6 is needed for Massachusetts.

The screenshot I posted in your recent thread would be a great start in my opinion.
It is adjusted to scan the top half of segment 4 and the bottom half of segment 6 for out of tune 34.7.

See the video below for the process.

Nobody* in PA uses Ka-band, at least nobody that I've ever seen as long as I been here. Nor do they use LIDAR.

(*except some federal entities while on federal land, and they only use seg8)
Is this still true? I thought I had seen some changes, but I can't find them.

I have yet to see NY use X band. Could you recall what areas these are referring to?

There are photo-radar traps in construction zones now, but I believe they're K-band, Ka-band or LIDAR. Not sure, really. Haven't personally encounter them myself. But otherwise still the case.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "frequent", maybe "occasionally". Maybe someone from OH will chime in and let us know whether X band is "frequent" still.
I drive completely through Ohio several times a month. I’ve encountered OSP using X band on quiet/rural stretches of road- using constant on- and usually used by moving OSP to clock oncoming opposite-side-of-the-road traffic. For example I’ve run into OSP using X several times in the last year on US 30 between Upper Sandusky and the Indiana Line. When I take the Ohio Toll Road, I-75 or I-71, I’ve never run into X band.

Had a thought around this, doubt i'm the first. If we used something like jbv1 which has logs and creates heat maps, that could be used along with an auto upload to add to this automatically or am I batty?
