Not normally the type to introduce myself but rather just jump right in but there is a first time for everything!

I am an Radar/Lidar dector user from way back. Maybe over 28 years ago now until I was driving interstate approx 22 years ago when I was nabbed by a RDD which suddenly ended my ownership of such a device and $700US fine back then! I think I had an old Bel model from memory but clearly not stealth. Note the device was legal in my home state!

My interest has been renewed with a new car which is a 718 Cayman and out back drive days where I'm occasionally inattentive to my speedo on the open country road with little or no traffic bar our drive group. Usually I might see a highway patrol car driving in the opposite direction so it is mainly mobile in-car cameras which I understand are in the K band.

Speed limit is mainly between 50 to 70 mph so usually ample leeway as I am a mountains style road driver in the twisties rather than a straight line speed person. Usually I'd prefer to slow down and get ready for the next 20 or 30 turns or so.

On the motor way I might cruse at 75 mph with everyone else which I'm usually happy to do due to the traffic! Nevertheless a new RD would give me peace of mind. My last car was an older Audi RS4 and you might be surprised to know I am speeding ticket free for the past ten years or so. Touch Wood. Though am on the country roads a little more these days so there is the concern.

I did have to convince myself that some of these new detectors are actually stealth but my learning curve has been rapid having read and watched numerous videos from Vortex, Radenso, Radar Busters, Vortex and of course Vortex, did I already mention Vortex. ;)

I am not wanting to have any noticeable signs of an RD in or on my car so I am leaning towards the NetRadar DSP which I understand is stealth and comes with a phone App for control rather than a hardwired key pad. I might consider a jammer down the track.

Our local supplier is:

ALPriority N Radar Package - Fully In-Built Radar Protection (But it says nothing about being stealth.)

I also don't have an engine in the front and I have read that that helps with rear detection for a front only antenna so I am thinking I will just start with that.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I drive a Miata and leave the top down, so stealth is very important. I have the ALPS/NetrRadar set up and love it. Nothing shows at all. The LED is in an A/C duct, so if I turn off the phone you can't tell that there is anything in the car even if it's alerting (my vents close easily). Of course, there is nothing showing when I leave the car. If it suits your needs as a CM, it definitely passes the"invisible" test.

hah Hi DavGTS. I have just picked up a boxster and am alarmed how quickly these cars pick up speed. I will follow along to see what you end up with.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??
Welcome! Lots to learn. I usually always recommend using the search function as that will return some quick answers. And of course there is enough knowledge and personal preferences here on the site that you will most assuredly find the solution that suits you the best.

The only true undetectable system in current production is the Escort Max Ci ;

If you want ALPConnect app integration, and don't mind second hand (and if you can find one), you could use one of the older STi-R+ or 9500Ci antenna heads (undetectable) and an ALP R/G module to integrate it.

They don't have much in the way of K band filtering, so you would need to use the ALPConnect app to mute out common K band false areas etc

Thanks guys for all the warm welcomes and info so far! Really appreciating the direction and tips.

I did look at the Escort Max Ci and the Radenso but my problem with those is the visual controllers in the cabin.

I might be a bit paranoid but LEOs here have the right to search your vehicle or you on the spot based on merely a suspicion and I'd imagine in some states down under they know what they are looking for.

The other day I merely drove past an LEO travelling in the opposite direction and I was surprised at the furious look that he gave me even though I was just cruising the 45mph speed limit, maybe a tad over.

I also now understand the Net Radar DSP is undetectable by the Spectre Elite if mounted low in the vehicle, of which the front of a Cayman or Boxter grill is extra low as is, so I'm assuming the Net Radar DSP would be ok. Though I couldn't find any tests for Spectre III if it makes any difference?
