As some of you know, I owned a V1(Along with the le dongle) for about a week before I sent it back and bought an R7. After I sent it back, I got to thinking about how it would have been if I had a android head unit in my car working with JBV1. My question is....Does anyone on here run this kind of set up? Is this a viable combo? Some may think I'm a V1 hater, but I'm not, I was just more use to my R3...which was the reason I went with the R7(Very happy with it). I do however plan on adding one to my collection later down the line.

Are you talking about an actual Android head unit or Android Auto?

Actual Android head units seem to be a few versions behind, or don't have all the proper hardware from what I've picked up here and there.

If the necessary hardware is there and Android is running properly on it, JBV1 should work just fine.
I'm going to assume...BT, WiFi, and proper OS? Is That correct?

I have JBV1 installed on my Joying but i have never had my V1 in my car (have NR dual) since I installed it. I know the stock VR app works so I can't see JBV1 not working. If I get a chance Thursday night, I'll try it out and report back.

Thanks for that. The reason I made this thread...I plan on buying a used pickup truck within the next yr(2000 and up) But I want it to have it's own RD, and since a truck has more space for a head unit than my car, I plan on getting a V1 for that with a head unit. Just planning ahead.

For basic features: Android 5.0+, BT, GPS. Access to Internet (WiFi or USB reverse tether to another device) for data features.
[email protected], forgot about the GPS....so I'd still need a phone. I was trying to get clever.

Edit: I'm sure if I look hard enough, I can find a head unit with GPS built in and a sim card slot. Just an after thought.

I've tried it. No luck. Most, if not all, of the Android head units don't have the Bluetooth profile to connect to the V1 BTLE dongle. JBV1 runs great, but never connects due to the OS limits.

That sucks! How about with the non-LE ("Android") dongle?

Its Android 5.1.1. It s a Joying JY-UL135N2. They have one with Android 6 too. JY-UM135N2.

Ive decided to keep the one I posted for sale. Going to install it in my truck once this heat breaks and upgrade to Android 6.
