I keep reading about all the bsm complaints and am just curious why people who live with hondas and Acuras everywhere dont just run city mode? I run k narrow, k filter and city on a crowded highway and my r3 makes no bsm noise at all. Are the complainers just unknowledgable newbies who dont understand what city mode is for?

It's because people don't want to deal with the reduction in range that city mode offers.

I run in Advance.. Either 70 or 50%.. 50% is the lowest I'll go because even at 50%, I brown my shorts with some encounters.. If I ran in City mode, I'd be getting tickets.

My Radenso Pro-SE only has problems with Mazda-3 and Mazda CX-5 pretty much. It is very quiet, and I live in the Raleigh, NC area where there is a ton of Acura's, BMW's, Mazda's, Porches, Mercedes and Jaguar's. I just purchased the PRO-M for me, because my wife wanted my radar detector and it is suppose to have better BSM and longer detection then the PRO-SE The shortest warnings I receive is on 33.80 and the longest 35.50. KA 35.50 in Michigan on flat land 3.1 miles when I'm visiting home.

FYI the BMW’s BSM operate at 77Ghz, so they’ve never been an issue.

I run hwy on back roads and non crowded situations. Chances are your odds of getting nailed on a crowded highway by k band are slim. I see mostly laser in high traffic so they can pinpoint easier

Look at PA, they are pretty much all k band I believe one the highways, so you need the extra range to detect those long I/O. I run city mode pretty much everywhere with quiet ride and it hasn’t made a noise in days, but the highway it will be at 50% K wide

I’d say also many are new to detectors and think (as we all wish) that radar detectors would be police detectors - not knowing all of the sources of k-band pollution.

It also depends where you are, certain areas have a lot more population that drive BSM cars... Take south Florida in the winter when half the cars on the road are Cadillac, Acura, or Hondas then you will see more BSM's. That said I don't get that many of them and I run highway with TSF most of the time.... but thats because there is a moderate amount of K band around me so I like the range... I can deal with a couple short obvious BSM's here and there.

I know that running city mode myself I have had no complaints, highway mode on the other hand would be a little chirpy.

I agree with others to utilize advanced mode.

I run in advanced, K narrow with K at 70%; if Uniden will add the “Honda block” to the R 1s and 3s like they did with the R7, there will be a lot less complaining. I get a 24.198 or 24.199 false several times each day.

The R7 block is not a true fix but I’m willing to take the chance and I might even run K wide with it. I can’t speak for all, but Hondas are by far the biggest offenders here in central NC.

K block is way way better than nothing.. Even running it, I get PTs on my R7, in the block range. It kind of eerks me that the filter isn't 100%, but it's better than nothing.... until they can do BSM filtering properly.

I really wish I knew if Uniden actually wanted to block everything in the K block range or if they programmed it to block above a certain strength..

Please Uniden.. Bring K block to all Rs! For many of us, it's needed.

You saw what Uniden had to say about adding this to the R1 and R3 in another post? They are considering it- nothing more- not definite

I did... And I have a feeling they're trying to add it, but because they didn't have the foresight to add more memory, they're having to figure out if it should be added.

What I mean by this is, lets say there's enough memory to add it, so they do.. Say in 6 month, they figure out how to get better MRCD/T range, but they now have to remove some feature to free up space to add it.. What do they do? Do they remove a feature everyone likes to add the MRCD fix or do they leave MRCD as a ticket notifier? They're kind of stuck..

If they add it, it will likely be bundled with the next firmware update, rather than just by itself.

Here’s to hoping

Living near a Honda plant has been hell. Unfortunately 90% of my driving is rural highway so City mode isn't an option and the cops run K band. I bought my R3 when it was released and I've only had two real Ka his so far.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to see a lot of Mercedes punching through around 24.100GHz.
