Is the escort 9500ix outdated or still a solid unit?

I bought a hardly used MAX ll recently off Craigslist. Did the update to ver. 1.9. Pretty quiet on BSM, and the auto lock outs are nice. The main reason for another Escort was they still work with my HARD wireless helmet warning system. H.A.R.D. is a red flashing LED alert, but not Blue tooth. And yes, the OLED display on the MAX ll isn't very good in the sun.
I never owned a MAX II but i have read really awesome things as to its performane !!!

IMHO based on experienced users here you will do well with it !!!

I have recommended it here previously as well.

Just read you went with R3 .... AWESOME DETECTOR BTW ... Mine was just too Freakin' chatty on K Band in Atlanta. If your not in Populated Cities often ... it is indeed a BEAST !!

R7 would be a nightmare in the above scenario.

Just sayin'

FINALLY, stick around and ENJOY OUR HOBBY, OUR "SPORT".

I had 2 9500ix detectors until this last June.
I wanted a new 360c but couldn't part with the cash.
Got a Pro-M plus an R3.
I loved that R3 for the month before I upgraded it to the R7.
All of these detectors are awesome and alleviated the increasing falsing of the 9500ix with all the new BSM etc.
They all have better range and way quieter than 9500ix.
I loved those Escorts but their time has passed, they turned into free gifts for family with even older detectors.

Im still using it for now but im thinking about getting something newer. I turned off K band a year ago and with it 95% of the alerts ended, kinda enjoyed finding speed signs but none out here anyway. Ive never actually seen a cop using k band in Socal, Vegas, or east Az or Montana. Only 2 or 3 false lasers since a year ago and i rarely speed so never really panic braking from it, just a phone drop. But I want to start looking for a good deal so whats a really long range primarily KA detector that i can pick up used to replace this 9500?

I’m so disappointed with my 9500ix false signals always and I have taken such good care of it and when I bought I thought I was always going to be download newer bands coming out but no the same thing happened to my older top of the line Bell detectors. ☹☹☹☹☹

RADENSO Pro M Super quiet Very Good Range
UNIDEN R7 Quiet Excellent Range ARROWs
UNIDEN R3 Very Quiet Excellent Range

IMHO No Escort Products unless Max II
And possibly 360c altho thise can just lock up and stop working WITHOUT a visual warning
😡😡

After my 9500ix Near Miss and constant K Falses
I have NEVER returned to BelCobraScort

To be fair the entire radar detector industry has had to deal with CAS and BSM systems that cause false K band alerts.Older detectors from any brand will drive you nuts with K band alerts.

I should also add, there have been no new radar bands to "download" as you stated. For the future it's all going to be KA and laser as well as speed cams. In the USA the next big thing will be MRCT and MRCD. A simple download will not save you from any of that. The game of cat and mouse continues.

The game will continue to be played until they move to average speed cameras . . . then it's game over.
Hope we never get there, as who doesn't like to play games. It makes driving fun and keeps one alert and perhaps even makes them a better driver for it.
