I note on my Escort RD's it has an Auto No X mode which is just a toggle away. I'm not familiar with other RD's in this sense, not sure which others ones have this. But seeing as how K is such a big issue with BSM's and such was wondering why no RD maker has created a "No K" mode which can be easily toggled. Here is my rationale: I find myself mostly in 2 situations. 1) Driving in traffic where I'm under the speed limit, this is where I'd love to toggle K off because of BSM's but don't want to fiddle with the RD settings menus. 2) Not stuck in traffic which means much less BSM falses and possibility of going over the speed limit, so would like to toggle K on.
Seems easy enough to implement, and would save us from BSM false signals. I believe there are some systems which turn off alerts under the speed limit, but my concern would be going through something like a construction zone where the speed limits have been reduced. I suppose if the RD could go off of a database, but then it would have to be internet connected or tied to a smartphone. I'd prefer to just have a K toggle so I can make the decision.
Radenso has a better idea on the XP (and probably the SP). Press the Mute button when no signal is present. It then automatically mutes K-band (no audio alert at all) if it sees it, but you still get a visual alert. We called it "wife/girlfriend mode" at the time. A great feature.
