Just this evening, I had my first true "kiss my detector" moment while driving with a car full of friends back from dinner. This is one of my favorite roads to drive on in my neighborhood, as it's quite twisty and hilarious fun to toss my little wagon around. As I am approaching the curve going a little over PSL +30, the DFR6 sniffs out some 34.7. Immediately drop the anchor, come around that 90 degree hard curve to the right, and find a Branford PD officer running C/O off his rear antenna.

I am pretty pleased with the off-axis capability here of my DFR6. Granted, it was a 34.7 encounter, which does happen to be the unit's strong suit. However, there was some serious forestry on the sides of the road and the unit still ate it up. It was also a nice moment for me with friends in the car, as they only ever hear the unit falsing to K Band automated doors. I even got a nod from my lady friend in the passenger seat, saying "okay, I get it now." This thing surely saved my butt this evening.

You would have gotten yourself a ticket if it wasn't for the detector I guess. Nice quick reaction from your side before the bend. I love videos like these!

@NorEaster18,
Awesome off-axis! What is the approximate range at the time of initial alert?

It was approximately 0.5 miles from first alert to source. Not a crazy amount by any means, but the fact that it got it around that 90 degree curve with a thick tree line is the more impressive bit!

It sure is. Off-axis is always exciting. Thank you for your answer! Regardless, it was a good save, and that's what it's all about when you have a detector...
