My biggest point by this poll is it's close to a 50/50 split between those that think the price is right and those that think its too high or needs more features.

I'm hoping Uniden understands this because its seems foolish to cut your market in half with a price rivaling the Escort but without all the features. If range were all that matters the Escorts wouldn't be selling so good. Uniden has shown they can produce a long range RD for a lower price. As long as the core R3 qualities carry over the R7 needs to be at least $100 lower than the 360. If not then it needs to have the same features if not more since the R7 doesn't tie into a live app and as it seems, will not have BT settings access.

It's worth it to me, regardless of FW 1.46 which I know has had its issues, the fact that Uniden continues to refine their software on an incredible platform is enough for me to know that I'll purchase from them. Pre-Order will sell out same day guaranteed, bugs and all because people are confident Uniden will address them because they have been addressing their issues. Assuming performance is the same or even marginally better, the R7 will disappear before it even hits the shelf and will be very hard to find until the end of summer unless there's a huge 1st production run, which I wouldn't count on.

Yeah...

Now I'd say $450.

Advance technology? V1 has had it for years. A max 360 for 450, come on, we expect uniden to be price leaders now.

The Max 360 can not hold a candle to the R3 in terms of range, particularly off-axis. If the R7 does indeed have the same range as the R3, I'd pay an extra $150.00 for that. The issue is that having been an early adopter of several detectors over the years, I'm hesitant to jump on the R7 bandwagon until it has proven itself.

Interesting, you are assuming based on a random poll here Uniden will lose 50% of the market if they price it close to Escort 360?

Also, when you say Escort is selling so good, well, in the past yes, but I doubt that today, I am sure Uniden and Radenso are outselling them...

600 is a very fair price, compare it to whats out there on the market and its pretty evident.

I really don't care what price they make it, hell bump it to $700. Just make sure it works and does not break for many years if ever. I don't want updates every week that break the unit, or i park in the hot sun and it dies on me.

Make reliable quality product and people will pay.

You guys are just killing me. No offense, but a pretty blind thread here. How would we know? We haven’t seen it. We havent tested it. We haven’t seen it yet because it doesn’t even exist yet. That is a pretty important thing. You need to see it in action. You need to see it tested. AND you need to know what the final specifications are. You don’t know any of that yet.
The pendulum can swing in either direction.

After the R7's released and bugs are worked out, I'll likely be buying two, or three of them. Price is ok by me. If it's working as well as my new two R3's. My other DD's the 1st gen Redline with Seg , and my 3.872 V1, have perform great this whole time. I'm hoping the Unidens will as well.

I think it's overpriced but mainly because I feel like it should come with some mandatory accessories like a concealed display unit, and/or be sold as cheaper without it. So I guess I do feel it's a bit overpriced, but pricing is based on what the market will bear. So if it sells in the quantity Uniden desires then it's not overpriced. What I think are grossly overpriced are the custom install units from other RD makers.

I think it would need more than just extreme range with arrows to justify the 599 asking price. I think it would need some really good filtering, be able to filter out those hondas and pacificas. Waze integration or even a community integration where we can have a escort like service about cop locations active and regularly used locations. I don't think I can justify paying that much just to get arrows with the range of the R1/R3. I know they have worked hard on the unit, but if the end result is similar then I don't see any benefits of upgrading besides arrows. If they fixed BSM issues, then they would probably port it over to the R1/R3, unless uniden decides not to update the R1/R3 to differentiate between the detectors. If they did do that, I think people would start to leave uniden. I trust them, but lets see how the future goes. I'll sit this one out until the smoke settles.

You mean I don't have to buy things just because they exist? That's why you're an Advanced Member, not just anyone could have come up with this axiom.

Hey, in the US we pride ourselves on revolving our lives around buying stuff just because it exists!!

Say over a span of 5 years , if the arrows allow only 1 save (over non-arrows).
Then the delta price R3/R7 is compensated.

If Uniden can load the R7 up with features and have very good BSM filtering that's all digital 599 is not really out of line. If and when V1 ever comes out with a V2 their price will also go up for sure. I really like the look of the R7 but then I have always liked the look of the V1 as well. For arrows to work their best I would imagine the detector should be mounted near the mirror (center of the windshield) anyway so no sense crying about the shape. In the end people that don't like the look or price can go buy a V1 or a Max360. You can't make everyone happy but the R7 has the potential to make a big splash just like the R3 did. Right now 66% say no or maybe on 599 being too much, maybe Uniden could offer a trade in program like Escort does or 2-3 times a year run a sale price.

I realize that none of us know yet, but based on the issues discussed with the R1 and R3, do we expect the R7 to last 5 years?
