So this Trooper thinks he's being sneaky. Little does he know that even though he's around a long sweeping bend, and hiding under an overpass, that the R sniffed him out from almost a mile away. 34.7 can't hide from the R, ANYWHERE! Settings - V 1.37 Advanced, Seg'd 2/5/6/8 ON. Laser and Ka ON. X @ 50% and everything else is OFF.

Thanks for sharing! No woman in the car, right?:)

My wife would throw my R1 out the window if I used the “machine gun canary” alert tone. I use tone #8 for Ka.

Nice whiff! I would like to see that same set up when the trees have foliage.
Me too!

Are you kidding, the R would have been launched out the window at the Trooper by time we got there!

Nice detection. Man, Waze has cut way back on distance when notifying.
I don't know if it's that or people are to slow to report. I wonder if they are already 1/4 mile or more past the LEO before they enter it, either way, I agree the lead time definitely needs to be longer.

I think it's Waze. I recently watched another RDF video and it was very short also.

Waze gives about a half mile alert. Plenty of time in some scenarios, not much in others. It’s a very fair point that people may be slow to report and already be a good ways down the road before they tap to start the process. I’ve definitely done that before. The other day, I think Sunday, there was the first time I’d ever personally witnessed a Bexar County SO way off the road with his driver’s door open leaning between the A pillar and his door frame shooting laser. I went to mark it on Waze but really I was at least a good 1/4 mile or further up the road. Only benefited people coming the opposite direction than I was going, for rear shots. For those going the same direction it would be a short alert, maybe even too late.

I've noticed some wonky stuff lately with Waze. I agree most of the alerts are coming up short but I've been notified a few times 2+ miles before I even get there. I use a dedicated tablet for it and twice now it's told me there was police spotted ahead and the distance shows 2 or more miles and once was 5 miles.

Agreed. Up here, its usually more than enough. But in @Jag42 land.....1-3 miles wide open, goodnight.

I have come to the conclusion that I am much better off visually checking Waze periodically than relying on the audio alerts, especially with all the laser around me. On a recent road trip, the voice alerts were alerting me at the 0.3 mile distance, which is approaching seriously dangerous levels of close encounters. I now leave it mounted in easy view and periodically glance over to look for icons (and even recently started tapping the icons to check how long ago they were reported. Really helps weed through the stale stuff).
