Take a look at how many speed cameras there are. This is seriously becoming a police state like North Korea.

Ouch! Unbelievable! Are the Speed Camera icons around Baltimore "fixed position" Speed Cameras? I would guess so, but just want to make sure.

Do you happen to know if they are K-band, or possibly Poliscan?

Is there any way you could slew the area within your screen to show possible Speed Cameras due West of Baltimore, on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, in particular towns like Rock Hall, MD, and Chestertown, MD., and post them? I know I pass a fixed position Speed Camera on Route 291 as I enter Chestertown, MD from the South. I have seen it flash as it takes pictures of cars traveling more than the PSL of 30 mph. Thanks!

Thankfully on my Android device I can spoof my GPS location to wherever I want. Once it's charged up, I'll spoof my location to the west of Baltimore and post what I find. I've never been to Baltimore so I can't answer your other questions.

Hi @Bulletbling

When I just read your reply post, I realized I xxxxed-up the direction I requested from Baltimore. I meant to request to the EAST of Baltimore, across the Chesapeake Bay. That is where Rock Hall and Chestertown are located. If you can do it...great! If not, don't be concerned about it. Sorry that I got my East and West mixed up!

Here's what you're looking for. I only see two speed cameras to the South of Chestertown in Centreville.

Hi again @Bulletbling

Thanks for your time and effort to get the map on your phone and upload it to your post. I really appreciate it!

I am surprised that a known Speed Camera is not in the Escort database. There is a Speed Camera on Route 291
approximately 1/2 mile before Route 291 intersects Route 213, directly above the second T in Chestertown. They seem to be really strict about the 30 mph speed limit, as I have often observed the flash of the Speed Camera taking a picture of a car that does not appear to be going that fast.

I have the location marked in my Beltronics STiR Plus, and when I approach the Speed (Radar) Camera, my STiR Plus issues a warning "Speed Trap Ahead". I can'y recall if the location was in the database of my STiR Plus, or if I manually entered the location as a Speed Trap. I'll see if I can contact Escort (Beltronics) and provide the Speed Camera location to them, for inclusion in future Defender Database updates.

As for the two locations South of Centreville, I'll be alert for them, as I sometimes travel on Route 213 and Route 304.

Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it!.

they have a lot of fixed cameras there, and some poliscans too. mostly surface streets, not on any interstates as far as I know

In MD, I encounter a lot of poliscan units that are continually being moved around. There have become a lot of "permanent" Waze pins marking locations all over the place even though there haven't been any cameras at these locations in months. I think that the county takes advantage of growing the number of these permanent pins so that the Waze map get covered with pins, and you never know which ones have, and which do not, have cameras. I wish that my repeated no vote at these dead locations would remove these pins, though it hasn't worked yet.

Marking them with diesel fuel and old tires might work better. :p

Sadly this is a list of potential camera locations, only a small number of which may actually have cameras on any given day. Then the shell game continues. To me, it's like the little boy who cried wolf. Lots of false alarms.

Sure glad we don't have any of that crap in Indiana. That's insane. Add Maryland to my list of states I never need to visit.

@omgboost and @JohnnyE

Thanks to both of you. When I drive down to Maryland, I drive thru Kent County and sometimes Queen Anne's County, both on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. It seems to be kind of quiet in those counties, except for a construction location, which I have driven thru, at the junction of Routes 301 and 304, and the two locations in Centrevile. Once in a while I will drive to Annapolis, in Anne Arundel County, which seems to have more possible locations for the Red Light and Speed Cameras.

Most of the speed camera are k-band but moco and the mobile speed camera on the highway are Poliscan. I have my waze open when I drive to alert me to where the speed camera area. These are no point tickets if you get one, so I just pay the $40 and keep it moving.

Miami and the surrounding area is the worst I've seen for RLC and speed cams. I swear it seems like there's one at every intersection (not literally, but there's a LOT.)

IIRC Maryland is one of those "Must be announced" Speed Trap and Speed Enforcement States. I was listening to the local radio station and one of the morning show guys was reading right from the local newspaper where the Speed Traps were going to be working that day (and they still catch local speeders). I think they have to post the fixed Photo Radar locations also on a .gov or .local website also.

Maryland is also a "No Touch" cellphone state. Better have a BT because one can't be handling a cell phone while driving.
