V1 mounting ideas

Anyone use an adhesive mount for their V1? I want something I can stick up above my rear view mirror and leave there.
All I can find is this model with mixed reviews.

What do you guys like to use?

I use Scosche Magic Mounts in two of my cars. For one, I use a modified visor clip with a steel plate attached to the top. For the other, I use a steel plate attached directly to V1. For both, I have heat shields made from corrugated cardboard.

Yeah 2 guys....an Aggie and "Don Pedro" gave it one star. You could invent a pill that cured ugly and somebody would give it one star because they could not figure out how to open the bottle. You can fix bad hearing with hearing aids, bad eyesight with glasses/contacts....but you just cannot fix stupid.
It is rock solid and works great. Even in the South Texas heat for a couple years now.
I highly recommend this mount.

I do it similarly to @johnboy00 above.

I have a magnet mount adhered directly to the top of the V1. This is the one I use:

And then I stuck this guy up at the top of the windshield:

The escort permanent mount has far superior adhesive properties then any of the V1 specific mounts I could find and has not let me down all summer. It gets very hot but has yet to show any signs of weakening. The mount is made from steel so the magnet mounted to the V1 holds to it very well. I have autocrossed with the V1 still mounted and it has never fallen off.

Also, the escort steel mount is malleable so you can bend it a bit to get the V1 mounted horizontally.

Thank you, by the way. I said screw it and just ordered one for the missus. She just got tint done (including an eyebrow the clear heat/UV rejection film on the windshield) and didn’t have the V1 up like normal. Got popped for speeding on the way into work. Let off with a warning! Lesson learned is keep the V1 in place. Gets here Monday, and I’ll put it on then.

Here is one I will thrown out there. Not my idea, but a good friend of mine did it to his V1. He purchased and 8500 x50 with the suction cup

I use those mounts for my cell phones. They are great. Never thought to try and use one to mount an RD.

Going to give the scosche magnet mount a go, I like how it's more discrete than the design of the stock V1 mount. Might pick one up for my phone too.

So does using this mount give you the adjustment capability of the suction cup mount? Like sliding the RD in and out to level it out?
Do you have to get it just right before you stick it on permanently? I like the idea of using the suction cup mount as it's easy to remove the RD when needed.

The way I have mine set up there is probably 5mm of clearance. This is very adjustable though depending on where you stick the magnet mount on the V1, the slope of your windshield, and the angle of the escort mount (since it can be bent).

Look at it again. It’s just a piece of metal with 3M tape that replaces the suction cups on the standard mount. Think of it as exactly the stock mount, just with mega sticky suction cups

Couldnt really go with a magnet mounted directly to the V1 as I like to use it in other vehicles sometimes and it would interfere with the other mounts

Gosh, I've always used the suction cup mount with no issues. Every 5 years or so, I dunk the suction cups in a cup of boiling water, and they are like new again.

In the South, with wild temperature swings possible in every season but summer, mine always end up letting go. At least once a year. And when you have to remove it often for testing indoors, because you have only one, it's even worse.

I'm sure I don't have the exclusive on this trick, but I always get a little spit on my finger and give the cups a little wipe before attaching to the window. Spit actually makes the cups stickier and helps create a better seal, and you wipe away microscopic dust and debris that can interfere as well. I know I've seen a few humorous posts about people licking the cups, even a few enjoying the experience, but I'll save you all from being exposed to that bizarre fetish.

Also, I'm a fanatic about having spotless windows, so if I see the slightest hint of suction cup marks, all production stops until the window is perfectly clean again. I'm pretty sure this all helps, as in Chicago, we have temp ranges that can get well below zero and up into the to 100's with 99% humidity, and I've never had a fall over all of these years.
