Hey everyone,
I'm setting up my Radenso Pro M and I have a few questions.

What are the best settings for Edmonton?

Theres also "wide" and "narrow" settings for many of the bands. What do they mean? And which ones do you use?

I do a mix of city and highway driving around the city.

This is my first radar detector and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wide and narrow indicate how much of the particular band to scan. While most police radar will fall under the "narrow" areas, radar guns can get slightly out of tune. eg: Ka 34.7 isn't exactly 34.7000 all the time, it could be 34.7102 or 34.6820, etc..

Inside the city, K band is not used.. but you may encounter it along the Anthony Henday where RCMP/Sheriffs run K band. Inside the city you need Ka band and MRCD on.

I typically run:
Auto City 20 90
X0 K9 Ka3
X Off
K SNarrow or Narrow
TSR High
Ka Wide
Ka POP Off
Ka filter Off
MRCD Narrow
MR Filter High
MRCT Off
Gatso Off
Laser On

Thank you! I will try that out when in the city. When driving out to Fort Sask would you just switch it to highway mode?

Updated post. I run auto city threshold of 20 90. Meaning above 90kph the RPM will automatically switch to HWY mode sensitivity.

I usually leave it at autocity. You'll modify or use the settings more as you drive more with it and learn it's behaviour.

In Edmonton I run

City mode

X0 K7 ka0
X Off
K SNarrow
TSR High
Ka Narrow
Ka POP Off
Ka filter Off
MRCD Narrow
MR Filter High
MRCT Off
Gatso Off
Laser On

I lock out all the speed signs and any door openers

On us9. I have yet to recieve any falsing from other vehicles nor any ka falses

I have not encountered and rcmp/sheriff k band yet outside city limits.

My M is extremely quiet. Solid ka 34.7 and mrcd detection

I just got my Pro M on Friday as well and am also setting it up.
So everybody runs Ka filter OFF? Does Ka filter slow down the Pro M like RDR does on the RedlineO or Ka guard on the V1? Also, wouldn't you need band segmentation with the Ka filter turned off to reduce false alerts?

It has built in filtering to eliminate most Ka falses, usually from parking assist and leaky Cobras and the like.

Personally, I've found Ka falses to be pretty rare so I prefer no filtering.

Ok. Thanks, I will turn the filtering off and see how it goes. I'd prefer not to take the chance of missing a quick I/O shot and maybe losing range as well. Looking at the online manual I guess Ka wide vs narrow is Radenso's way of doing segmentation. It says in the user manual that Ka narrow covers +-120 GHz for 33.8, 34.7, and 35.5 so that should be enough coverage unless it is a very out of tune gun?

Thanks.

For me on the Pro-M

AutoCity
0-80 Km’s
X0/K4/Ka0
X off
K narrow
Ka wide
TSRej low
Pop off
Ka Filter off
MRCD narrow
MR Filter off
MRCT/ Gatso Off
Laser on.

Speed zones/User Defined areas off

Red Light cameras on

GPS detection distance normal

The TSRej is kind of misleading. It’s an extra layer of K Band filtering that stays engaged at all speeds and in all modes. It reduces the k band false’s even more without any real penalty in range.

Here are a couple of pictures of a test I ran on the effects TSRej settings had on loss of range. This was against my Bushnell Velocity K Band gun. Against a real leo K gun, the distances would be further back, but the differences in the filter loss would be the same.

The 3 settings in the picture are TSRej off/Low/high.

I was in City mode X0/K0/Ka0

Sorry, those pictures are from March 17. It would’ve been FW8 when I did that. We’re on FW9 now.

Yes. I wouldn’t worry too much about 33.5. I run it because I once or twice ran into it up in the Redwater area. It doesn’t really seem to affect it running Ka wide, and that’s the only time I’ve ever seen it, so I just leave it in wide. Probably just my own personal paranoia in that neck of the woods.

When youre above the speed threshold all filters are off right? Except for the bands you've disabled?

No. The TSRej (K),and the other Ka Filter are active as far as I know. I’ve tested the TSRej, but haven’t tested the effects of the separate Ka Filter yet.

I just picked up a 34.7 Stalker ATR, but haven’t had time to test with it yet. I’ll probably test the Ka Filter the same as I did the TSRej.

I usually run with the Ka Filter off and my city, or AutoCity Ka setting is 0. I really don’t get many Ka false’s, so any alert I get, I want to know.

@Skyler M , remember, not all city of edmonton trucks run MRCD photo radar. Some of them shoot thru front windshield, side window or back windos the most deadly lidar gun with camera in the world (DragoneyeCam). No radar detector will give you advance warning on these.
