I just received the best thing in the world today. MY V1. It's weird. i feel like god when i hold this thing. lol.

Anyway. i want to get it hard wired in my mercedes CLA250. But like 4 local shops says it will be like 120 bucks just to hard wire it.

is this a good deal or am i getting ripped off to the max. i would assume it shouldn't be that hard to hard wire.
also if anyone lives in the glen burnie area please let me know if you know how to hard wire i'll gladly pay you for your help.

what should i do guys. don't want the cig lighter cord hanging down.

Where are you planning on mounting the V1?? High , low, middle?? If high, you can go off a mirror tap on the Benz. Its switched and works great.

I run a hardwired install to the cigarette lighter adapter in every rental I drive. I should make a video.
It really is easy generally. :) I just tuck the cord into the seams.

Yea, if you can see power connector on the back of your mirror - you can most likely use MirrorTap cord, which is pretty easy... Can also try to Google something like "cla250 radar hardwire" if you don't mind trying the install by yourself...

As for worrying about theft - you can always just remove it from the mount and put it into glovebox when leaving the car... B.t.w, this is why I wish more radar detectors would adopt a magnetic mount similar to Escort units.

A little. But that's what I do for all the rentals. I'll see if I can find one of my pics.
I ran it for over 2 years with the bare wires. Recently I decided to make it look better if I was going to critique others. :)

mounting near the headliner + the mirrortap pointercone pointed out is the best option. You can do it yourself in less than 5 minutes. Pickup the Mirrortap cable on amazon or ebay for $10 give or take

Mirror taps take less time but more experience.

If you already have the hard wire kit that comes with a V1 you should be able to knock it out yourself within 20 mins. Find the ACC fuse location (google), tap it (optional: add-a-fuse), and route the wire up your A pillar using a credit card or soft plastic prying tool being sure to avoid any airbags.

Make sure you take it off when you go any place you don't trust (I go on whether they have cameras outside pointing in the area my car is in). I lock mine in my glove box, 98% of thieves in broad daylight are looking for a smash, grab, and run. They're not going to bother picking a lock even if it only has 2 pins.

The dealer I got my car from had an installer who did a concealed hard wire to near the mirror for $40. Triple for a MB=rip-off. It’s a simple job. Any car stereo guy can do it and no extra parts needed.

For you guys who do a V1 with a MirrorTap, where are you installing the BT module and how are you wiring it in?

Easy install for DIY.
Get a fuse tap at the auto store, Attach it to your hardwire cable that came with the V1 - Start at the top with the cord to see where you're going to run the cord inside the front of the headliner - down the A pillar down to the fuse box. Use a fuse location that is switched so it turns off with your car. Maybe a 30 min job - take your time - it'll turn out great! I've found lately that the toughest thing to do is find a ground screw.

Depends what their labor rate is and where/how they plan to hardwired/install it. For a mirror tap set up that is crazy, but if they are taking off panels and running to fuse block they want to take their time, especially in a benz. I could easily see 2 hours labor at a cheap $60/hr rate all day for something like that.

thanks

@BlueV1 Great Setup! Do you have a splitter or a special cable to connect the CD and V1LE together?
