I agree with the eyedar statement. Any plain coloured VW/Hyundai parked in unusual places is a prime suspect.
I had K off for around 10 years with only 1 cam ticket.

I absolutely agree, although I had a fright yesterday while driving north on SH1 near Pokeno. I was doing about 110 in right hand lane amongst a group of other vehicles travelling at similar speed, I suddenly had a low K-band alert at 24.008 (thanks again @Mithheru !), I braked down to about 104 just to be safe-ish, and about 2 seconds later saw the white Hyundai camera van through a gap in the traffic. I'm not sure if I was still in the 'kill zone' but I think I was going slow enough and with other vehicles in frame to be pretty safe. I'll chalk that up as a save. I think I'm up to around 5 actual camera van saves and maybe 8 sightings total so far, with no tickets to report yet as far as I know :)

Add that to the dozens of Ka band saves too lol -a very happy R7 for NZ owner :)

Hi I am wondering if there are any other travellers who have had KA readings on SH1 just by the meremere drag strip- have had it both on Escort MAX and installed 9500 only seems to happen heading south .

Yes, often. I think the track has a speed gun in use. It scared the crap out of me the first couple of times.

Just South of the drag strip, at Hampton Downs race track, there is a fixed KA (35ish GHz) system that is used for on-track speed measurement.

I've also had a few frights there as I don't drive past often enough to always remember about the track radar. It would be a good place for a unmarked cop car to stalk waiting for radar users who know about the track Ka false... ;)

I've only seen 34.7 coming from that unit.

I've seen cops stopped up on the (northern) on-ramp from Hampton Downs more than once...

Would they happen to be the remaining Holden SUV’s that were earmarked for the quashed tactical division?

they are the Holden Equinox SUV's that they are using. stealthy if you are unaware of them, since its not the usual unmarked Commodore's

I saw a silver one of those on SH2 near Tauranga, gave me a real surprise while trying to work out where the Ka was coming from, and then I remembered reading on here about the new Holden Equinoxes... This site is great!

I thought the silver was a particularly stealthy colour, very innocuous appearing, and no outward signs of its actual purpose. I doubt anyone without a RD would have had any idea it was actually a cop sitting on the side of the road.

Same old BS from the Pleece. You wouldn't know the difference between a head on at 100 or 110, you'd be just as dead.
Even 70 is lethal in some of the shitboxes we allow on our roads.

I saw a silver Holden suv as I was coming down Mill Road at the Bombay hill. Hiding behind the big sign c/o didn't realise it was a cop till I passed it though it was down by BP there

White Holden SUV parked at the point where 70 goes down to 50 for the roadworks in Whatawhata on Friday night.
No Ka alert but it was enough to make me notice him given recent news.
