Does anyone know if there's a visor mount for an R1 or R3? Or is there another compatible one available?

I'm considering an R3 purchase along with a direct wire from BRD but couldn't find a visor mount option.

Thanks

Radenso XP visor mount works well with very little modification. Just file off a little from the end of the insert tab.
Thanks Deacon!

A visor mount is not popular with any GPS based detector, they don't seem to get a good signal that way. Rear view mirror mounts seem to be the current way to go.

I had no problems with my visor mount on the R3 but I have had some issues with the GPS while using the blendmount . It will depend greatly on the car or truck the detector is used in .

Indeed, that would work, too. But it’s far easier to file down the end, with a much lower requirement for precision. For apes like me that’s a good thing :)

I used this one for the V1 will fit R3 for sure

I’d be concerned about heat building up with this R3’s run hot.
And I think gps issues are vehicle dependent
Have never had gps problems with mine but, window tint caused problem in one car.

Had a 9500ix and a Max that would loose the GPS signal on a visor, mounted it under the mirror and worked fine. Does Uniden include a visor mount with the R3? If they do that's cool. If they don't I wonder why not.

Not available. I think it comes down to marketing. When you tool up you have to spread the cost of tooling out by selling product and not many people use visor mounts.

It showed up last night. All I had to do was grind/file about .030" from the tip, smooth it out and it fits like a charm.

Now if my concealed power chord will just show up...

Thanks again!

I filed off some of the end, but it doesn't seem to click in real well on my DFR6 - is it just a matter of taking more off? It looks to be pretty close to the factory windshield mount.

I used the Radeon XP clip for my new R3. After using my Dremel to grind off the appropriate amount for it to click in, I went a step further. I cut the middle bar out as well so I have easier access to the release button. I also bent it down a bit for access to the buttons(otherwise the detector was flush against the visor(I used a black magic marker to cover the exposed metal).

Some 3M Velcro from Home Depot or somewhere behind the dots is a great idea. Hides the detector and can't really be seen from the outside. I would also recommend to see if the dots are ceramic because if they are metallic, then radar really suffers, if they are ceramic, then you're good.
