Yeah this is a known issue for when you're stationary, particularly when you first start your car up and haven't started moving yet. There's not actually a compass in the detector. It determines direction by watching you drive down the road.
Anyway, it's been reported to Uniden and they're working on it. One solution they brought up (I'm not sure if it's what they're gonna do, but it was an idea during the brainstorming) was to simply remember what the compass was last set to when you finished driving last time so that when you start your car next time, it simply puts the same direction back onto the display until you start moving again.
Also, in the future would you're creating new threads, could you please start using thread titles that are more meaningful and descriptive? That would be really helpful for others so they could understand what is being discussed in your thread.
