So I tested a day earlier than scheduled to take advantage of the good weather. There were a total of 26 detectors after a few withdrawals and no-shows.

Thanks so much to everyone who sent their gear. Without the great contributions of you all this test would never have happened. Thank you @Vortex for sending 4 of his personal detectors and his Stalker II handheld 34.7 gun. Thanks to @PointerCone @Jag42 @Brainstorm69 @<<JAZZY>> @Holla @NPark @patsy1099 @borderjumper89 @Vehicle 1 @colloyd00 @mark0101 @DJ XtAzY and our contact at Uniden (out of respect for his privacy I won't post his name). In addition to sending R3s and R1s to the beta testers, he also sent me two additional R1s when I told him about this big test. And then he sent a brand-new & still sealed retail Escort 9500ix to compare. The XP unit tested had been previously sent to me by Michael at Radenso, so thank you to him too.

Unfortunately the Stalker II 34.7 gun could "only" last 6.5 hours and died before I could test Vortex's V1 and RPSE, and DJ XtAzY's RPSE. When I say only, I mean wow! haha I actually planned on doing a stew test at the 1100 meter mark to see which detectors could alert in a 3 minute window of time, but that's life, maybe next time.

34.7 Course
; thick foliage, very tough on the weaker detectors. The range was measured in meters using the app called WayPoint.

35.5 Course; on a bend with a crest, not as tough on the detectors. Again, range was measured in meters using the app called WayPoint.

Comments:

The results pretty much speak for themselves. The Uniden R-series (R1 and R3) detectors obviously dominated both 34.7 and 35.5. Old Nelly put in a respectable performance but was outpaced not only by the R's, but also some other very strong M3s. I was actually expecting a bit more out of her and wonder if her journey to get to me was rougher on her than she could tolerate. Brainstorm69's Redline did very well on 34.7, as did NPark's WB Magnum! Holla's Redline and Jazzy's WB Magnum performed handily on 35.5.

The V1's and RPSE disappointed badly on 34.7, and I am shocked that the Unidens are THAT much better than them. I wasn't too surprised the 9500ix M4 platform was blind to the signal. I had better hopes for the XP and DFR7 too. Very telling results. And while the course was so tough, I think it was a good one to give some big separation for the strongest detectors, to show exactly how impressive they can be in the toughest terrain. Thick foliage is such a radar signal eater, and I know a lot of you guys towards the East Coast have to deal with it. Huge contrast to only 5 weeks ago, when on the same course I was getting 13,000 foot detections from the same location. The foliage has grown very quickly, and I actually couldn't find a spot for the 35.5 gun in there to get a signal out. I tried 3 different locations in that wooded area and no luck, so the 34.7 went in there, and thankfully got a workable signal coming out, albeit very faint, and too tough for the highly prized and respected V1s and RPSE's. I almost cancelled to reposition, but thought nope....it is what it is, and let the cards fall where they may.

So after looking at those 34.7 go and consider your recent vote in the ARROWS or RANGE poll :p

Special thanks to everyone who donated cash in their shipping boxes, or used PayPal to send some money to help cover the costs of insured shipping and gas. It's not cheap doing these tests, and shipping that many detectors home with insurance adds up fast. So thanks @Brainstorm69, @Holla, @<<JAZZY>>, @NPark, @colloyd00, @mark0101, @Vehicle 1, @InsipidMonkey, @SixPackABS, and @pntblnk You guys rock.

Good stuff I cant wait to see mass production runs. I am hoping manufacturing variance is minimal. So far what I have seen with early forum member units is amazing

haha yeah, that's what I thought each time. And each time, as I either turned into the driveway to face the gun, or did a u-turn a little past it and came back every single one of them did alert to the 34.7 signal. So all were on, and the gun was working.

Yeah me too! They're very consistently good. I was stunned that the Unidens were pulling off 1000+ meter (3,300+ foot) detections, and the V1's were blind. Next level stuff for sure.

Can't wait to see the videos.
hiddencam for completeness and posterity, could you add the detector configurations and mounting locations to the results? eg Redline segments, V1 custom sweeps, filtering, which bands were enabled, etc?

@hiddencam - great job! I know it was tons of work and time, so thanks for that! Yeah, having to put the 34.7 gun actually in the tree with that much foliage really made things Tough with a capital T.

@Brainstorm69 will convert your chart to feet in 3........2........1 :p

And no, I'm not gonna mess with his results...lol

Yes indeed. I kind of rushed to get this out to ya'll at a reasonable hour.

So all had X off, K off, TSR/TMF/TSF off, k filter off, laser on, ka narrow or 2/5/8 or simple sweeps (will post screenshots of v1 settings and sweeps in a sec).

No worries, and thanks again for taking the time to test all of these detectors!

Awesome!! Thanks again HC! Very "real world" scenario here. Great showing from the M3's and Unidens. Thanks to everyone else who sent their detectors in! We made this a great test!!

While I'd love to think my Redline had a the longest run of the day on 34.7, it was only the longest M3 run on 34.7...;)

Just goes to show the M3's(Mag and RL) tolerances/differences on each band. I don't have 35.5 by me. Jersey really doesn't have it either. I'm really shocked(but also Happy) and quite impressed by the 34.7 on my Mag. Was keeping up with, and beating some of the Redlines.
