The RDFGS is a community project where people here report what they see in their areas. Unfortunately the RDFGS has been offline for close to 2 years, and this is just a dump of all the data that we had when it went offline. When it comes back up, then we'll be able to add more information to it and make sure everything is up to date. I have no clue when that will be, as I'm just another user here, and I don't run the site.
I actually have it ready to go for int+ users but need to add in a quick read only version for the rest. I've been doing a little bit of work here and there while I have been working on the rdfvpn project, but once that's done a lot of the stuff that's been offline for a while will be heavily worked on.

Just because I'm a data nerd by profession and I keep an updated monthly zip code database, I'm working on a new version based on the latest version I was able to download with cleaned up names of cities, counties and de-duped data. If you all want, I can add Latitude/Longitude [it would be close but my database is based on ZIP code, not city], current estimated population of the city/county as of a couple of weeks ago, elevation, County FIPS, State FIPS. Lots of minor geographical issues and spelling issues.

I recommend making a post in the RDFGS 2.0 section - www.rdforum.org: RDF Geographical Survey (RDFGS) 2.0 - with some details of stuff you've been doing in regards to what you wrote above - perhaps we can collaborate when we start working on RDFGS 2.0 next month.
RDFGS 1.0 (I'm making a post about this right now, actually - stay tuned to the Announcements section later tonight for this thread, titled the Fall 2018 Update) has a lot of these functions already built in, including Lat/Long/other geographic-based information:
I actually have the boundaries based on all counties in the US already mapped out, and we have subscriptions to geo location databases to grab extended information (zip codes, area codes, etc etc etc) for all sorts of metrics.
But definitely check out the RDFGS 2.0 section mentioned above and post in one of the threads there/or create your own in that section if you are interested in collaborating on the RDFGS 2.0 project. It'd be great to start hearing from people who are interested in being more than just beta testers - again we're extremely close to starting development on it (I've been working on planning out the details/the proposal to the community for the project for a good while now in anticipation of starting the project).

Maybe since RDFGSv1 Temporary Viewing System* is now back up, we could unsticky this and perhaps sticky and lock a thread with the information on how to get the RDFGSv1, as I've seen lots of posts asking how and where to get to it.

Do you want to create a specific thread for reporting info to be added to the Temporary Viewing System or would you like to keep using the "Presenting the RDF Geographical Survey (Version 1.0)" thread? I know there has been some confusion in the past of where to go to report information

The RDFGSv1 is viewable, and editable. What's the issue?
People who cannot edit RDFGSv1 (because they aren’t intermediate+) might want to report info that they’ve found to be added. That’s been occurring in the aforementioned thread. Do you want to continue that or have a dedicated thread?

Hello,
I've been lurking the site for a couple of weeks now setting up my Uniden R7. This morning however I'm having trouble getting to the map. I checked around on the forum's and didn't find any threads regarding this time-frame, so I decided to try the discord server this morning to see if anyone else noticed, but its very quiet there. So instead I am now posting on the most recent relevant thread. Is anyone else having trouble with the RDFGS map? I saw that maintenance occurred overnight so maybe related?

Yup, same here. The subdomain appears to be redirecting.

Thanks for pointing this out. A lot was changed during the maintenance and some of the subdomains may not work correctly yet.
