I searched but could not find the info. What does the CD and CT stand for in MRCD/MRCT and, in general, how do they work? I know they are multi radar and low power with hopping frequencies in bursts (I think), but I would love to know more about the technology behind it not to mention the CD/CT part.

Thanks.

The MRCD and MRCT are frequency modulated constant wave radar systems operating with low power. The difficulty to detect them is due the modulated frequency. The systems control the speed (and/or distance) of vehicles in several different lanes and for each lane a different frequency is assigned. In addition, they measure speed AND distance with non constant frequency which makes it so hard to detect with a "regular" detector
MRCD stands for "MultaRadar Compact Distance"

Is there a list where this is being used? Thinking maybe it should be an additional column in the RDF Geographical Survey?

So do we know that it's not in other provinces in Canada or is it because virtually no one has a detector that can detect them (for those of us who live here)

B.C. doesn't have photo radar of any kind although some municipalities are pushing for it $$$.

Are we staying up to date on MRCD/CT in the USA? Hasn't Washington DC area used some sort of photo radar vans for ages?

Also, I've noticed several times during recent travels that I pass thru construction zones with signs that say something to the effect of "speed limit enforced via speed radar/photographs".

MRCD is currently being used in NYC, Washington (near Maryland), and Chicago.

Note that "speed radar", aka photo radar can also be other bands, such a Ka, or low powered K, such as Redflex.

@synistyr , are you able to detect them or maybe you're just aware of their fixed location?

Thanks.

Both. With a MRCD/MRCT capable detector you can detect them if they're running. eg Uniden R series (to a limited extent), Radenso Pro M, and Escort Redline Ex.

They might also be in RLC databases or Waze of course.

Thanks. I gather the detection distance is very short?

I know that some of them are deployed in southern Maryland but I was wondering if there will be any deployed in TX? Or Virginia? ANyone has any guesses?

It's odd that my NR-DSP gets the occasional "MultaRadarCD" false, even though I have MRCD "off" in the setup. It displays 24.100 during the alerts.

PA just passed a bill and is expected to be signed into law regarding speed cameras in PA state road work sites. I can't find any information regarding band and type of radar. However, I suppose it will be the newest technology?

The Net Radar DSP will always display 24.100 during MRCD alerts. It does not display the actual frequency. Not sure about why you are getting falses with it disabled though, possible mistake with the config file?

If you have multiple antennas make sure its turned off on both of them. All settings are separate for each antenna.
