Now apart from scouring the forums for a ALP, I see radenso highlights visions.ca as a supplier however there isn't anything on their website to indicate that> only that they are still advertising the PRO-M that has laser which we know doesn't work anymore. Any Canadian thoughts of where some folks are selling the ALP? Also here is the link for PRO-M visions https://www.visions.ca/catalogue/ca...?pz=30&categoryId=0&searchText=laser+detector

If you’re looking for new ALP, KMPH.ca is what you want.
Other than that, for Canadian used stuff it’s a dice roll on Kijiji or FB marketplace.

For that SUV, in Alberta, this is ideally the setup you’d purchase and install for the best possible protection. BT is a personal choice. I have it, but use it once a year if that. I prefer software updates via USB as they are much faster, and I don’t run the app - just pro mode on the hifi. I certainly wouldn’t say BT is a requirement.

You’re right - it’s not cheap. Especially if you don’t feel comfortable doing a DIY setup. That said there are many of us in AB that could either do your install or give you tips/help (COVID rules aside). You can afford it tho, you have a GLC300 😉

FM, $3 grand without install? I would certainly take up the offer of someone helping with the install for sure Covid or not!! i will provide the N95 and goggles!! am not keen on Bluetooth either. I know Vortex is kind at getting the discount but the $50 is a drop in the ocean. Yupi am quite lucky to have the Merc, need to start saving the shackles if I want the ALP> much obliged for the information mate.

I totally agree with @edconline's suggestion for front and rear.
If you dont want to drop 3k right away, first buy yourself front protection then go for the rear when your finances will allow.
I first started with only 1 rear sensors back in 2015, then after couple of months I added 1 sensor in front, then after another couple of months I added 2nd front sensor and so on. At that point I was working in Boston Pizza for 15$ per hour so money was tight but I made it.
Install is not hard, its pretty fun to do it once you are married with ALP for a couple of several years. No biggie.

I would only drop 2x extension cables for rear. For GLC I dont think he needs extension cables. So 100$ down :)

You can also try going with 1 regular sensor + 1 TX sensor (REAR) 5 inches apart/2.5 inches away from vertical centerline.
At least my 2nd vehicle was JFG with only 2 rear sensors and I strongly believe yours could be too.

Front. Always front, that’s where the cops here target 90%+ of the time. Yes, photo is more prevalent, but it’s only a fine - not demerits or worse. Not to mention the way you’d have to set it up if you did only rear first.

I dont think you will need them. Trucks like F150 need them not like semi large SUV.
GL would probably need them but not GLC.

@keefrto,
before you pull the trigger on ALP do you have a radar detector?
If you dont, get yourself a good radar detector.
Uniden R7 (my suggestion)
Escort Redline EX or 360C
Radenso ProM

@keefrto
We should get together one day and you can ask me all the questions that are bugging you.

As @BaileyAB said.... ALP never goes on sale. When your the benchmark... it’s the pay to play business model.

For your trip from Sherwood Park to the U of A .... you will definitely need a TX/RX set up.

Fronts first. If you were on the Yellowhead more.... backs first. Lol.
