Edmonton and surrounding area enforcement

So here's a new one.

There is a new black Chevy Silverado pick up truck with the city of Edmonton sticker on the side.

I know that they've been using set ups like this in Fort Saskatchewan , but it appears that it's now here in Edmonton

It's parked facing traffic and its shooting the camera through the rear slider window.

I seen it today westbound on 106th Ave. just west of Capilano freeway. There's a service Road on the north side of 106th Ave. and he's hiding on that service road behind the trees shooting vehicles heading towards downtown on 106th Ave.

I'm not sure what system it was using as I was on my bike without any radar detector.

Peace Officer in Spruce Grove shooting some form of DET/DALA at a speed trap.

Was in someone else's vehicle on a side street but I saw the grey oval-ish DET Full Size in her hands.

I pulled this from a Facebook group... this remote-operator automated photo enforcement box showed up a few days ago. It's a light grey looking utility box, located coming down the hill on 98 ave westbound and about 92street. I haven't taken a trip to see it in the wild yet. Anyone know what it's using for speed detection? There is some rumour it's LIDAR but I'm not convinced.

I was the first one like almost 2 years ago to confirm its a MULTARADAR MRCD from Jenoptik Corp. Nothing new. Those boxes r out until temperatures hover above OC. You will need MRCD detection enabled radar detector.

Good catch. Good to know they’ve moved it across the street. Did you spot an operator near by?
I thought they were suppose to be manned.

The RFP shows they were looking to purchase 2 units - one mobile device that can be used in multiple vehicles, and one intersection device that can be used in multiple intersections.

Had a hit of 33.8 inside the city near Kingsway. Saw red and blues flashing in the distance but gone, along with the signal as I got closer.

Anyone else get 33.8 inside the city?

I did see a report and video on the news today and the Leo was using a Stalker, but never have I ran into 33.8.

I had some kind of weird hit, coming down 98thave into Edmonton best road for that view! The "your speed" was blaring a 9 at me with Ka band! I thought they were K band? I know I just loaded the updated cameras in Edmonton but could they have logged that as a Ka instead of K band? There was no car or truck on the roadside that was shooting up the hill. Is it a hit or a hmmmm wassat?

I actually came up Strathern Hill (98ave to the traffic circle) this morning. I didn’t have any Ka hits. Just the K band sign on the north side of the ave.

Never gotten Ka along that route. Lots of K, occasional MRCD and laser though.

If you're getting weird results maybe a reboot or factory reset might be needed.

As you approach k band speed sign blasting k band frequency, it can briefly jump to 33.8 ka band as you pass it.
Its explained why somewhere on the forum if you would like to know how and why it does it.

There s no 33.8 confirmed in Edmonton.

If you see 33.8 look for cheap detector around yourszelf like cobra, whistler, batman etc.

There was a short Ka 34.7 hit near the ball park heading north then turning east towards the MacDonald bridge, but that could be a couple things.
1. There was Ka enforcement up 105 st.
2. The Alberta sheriffs have an office where there’s a lot of cop cars sit. It’s on the the NE corner of 105st and 98 ave. Could be one of the cars was sitting there with his radar on. That’s the most likely scenario and I’ve come across that before.

The little blue Hyundai was back on Groat Road again NB shooting Lidar again this morning.

I will try tomorrow morning to see what's what, I encountered other your speed signs and they all showed K band, maybe there was a sneaky copper but I truly couldn't see him, it started from top of the hill downwards and stopped as I passed the speed sign. Hmmmm
