Edmonton and surrounding area enforcement

The RDFGS for Canada is getting a bit crowded with all the Edmonton reports. So I thought I would compile the data and start a new thread.

Enforcement of Edmonton and Surrounding Areas:


LTI Truspeed Lidar (Photo Lidar in St.Albert Only):

• LTI 20/20 Tru Speed and mated it with a Canon Digital Camera and Lens system. Normally mounted in pickup truck shooting out of rear window
• LTI Truspeed S remote lidar unit. Paired with a Canon Digital Camera, hidden in Electrical boxes (as shown below)
• 
• Five year contract awarded to Global Traffic Group Ltd in July 2014 which radar has been replaced with laser.
• The city of St.Albert releases some photo enforcement locations on their website which you can find here

KRIA T-EXSPEED ISD Intersection Safety Camera (St.Albert):

• The ISD program currently has six fixed camera systems (speed on green and red light enforcement) at three intersections – St. Albert Trail at Boudreau Road/Giroux Road, St. Albert Trail at Hebert/Gervais and St. Albert Trail at Bellerose Drive/McKenney Avenue.

Dragoneye Tech – Dragoncam (Photo Lidar - Edmonton only):

• The Dragoncam was purchased by the City of Edmonton on April 23 2013
• Normally shoots at a distance of 115-125 meters (manufacturer states a max of 137 meters from target)
• Operates in leased City of Edmonton vehicles during day light hours only

ATS - Axsis SC-300 Speed Camera (Photo Radar - Edmonton only):

• SC-300 uses 34.6 Ka Band (Can drift ensure sweeps/band segmentation are set accordingly)
• Mostly Ford F-150's with a canopy, but they use other leased vehicles as well

ATS Axsis™ TC-16MP Intersection Safety Camera (Edmonton):

• "Speed on green", can issue tickets for exceeeding the speed limit while traveling through the intersection

City of Edmonton total number of photo enforcement units (as of 2013):

• 
• On average, 4 or 5 units of the 13 Dragoncams are used each day. Operators will use either photo radar or photo laser equipment at one location depending upon which would be most effective due to circumstances such as available daylight.

Dragoneye confirmed in spruce grove today, first time I've seen it in use here. He was shooting traffic going opposite of me and when he heard me he shot me, JTK, went for a second pass detect only, dragon again. Looked like they were testing a new toy, 2 uniforms and one plain clothes. Leo's were local peace officers NOT RCMP.

First time I heard ALP alert to DragonEye was today at the top of Groat Road / ~87 Ave. Here's a pic there's a reason I wasn't right up in his face taking these though so I didn't get one of the DET gun (I didn't even see it -- next time!)

I didn't figure out the vendor yet, but I found a recent (still active for 17 hours) RFP (request for proposal) for the city of Leduc. They're looking for a company to provide an additional 80 hours per week of portable in-vehicle automated traffic services starting December 1, 2016.

I was hit with DragonEye compact yesterday. Wye road east bound, conveniently a construction zone with NO workers present, coming in to sherwood park from Anthony henday South. Lidar operator was local peace officer NOT rcmp. Kind of feel bad for the poor soul 3 cars back that didn't heed the warning when I got on the breaks.

@JGECKOHFP, we still dont have confirm sightings of Dragoneye Compact here in Edmonton Area. Why do you think you saw Dragoneye Compact?
Only confirmed Dragoneye lidars are:
1. Dragoneye Speed Lidar gun
2. Dragoncam Photo Lidar

Plus Peace Officers were shooting it in the CGY area so I wouldnt put it past them to have it in that Area of EDM now...It's going to start showing up more and more, it's just the progression of upgrading when the time comes!

I can believe they have Dragoneye Speed Lidar just as I was first one to confirm the usage of DESL in Edson area last year.

But DEC would be fvery irst sighting n confirmation in Alberta ever.
Thats why Im raising question.
Maybe op doesnt know the difference between DESL n DEC.

Apologies, I should have proof read better my phone got me twice in that post, for whatever reason on this forum if I post from my phone it will insert added words or completely different words.

Ithe <-----phone put that.... * it was standard desl, lenses were side by side rather than stacked. Either way I didn't see any mention of it in the regional for sherwood park.

Will proof read better next time.

Both DET guns do the exact same thing, the compact just had a bit shorter range.
