I live on Long Island. Both Nassau and Suffolk are starting to put in speed cameras around schools. Some of them are permanent while others are mobile. (whatever that means) Will my quad LIs jam the gun so I'll be safe. Will my STiR Plus alert me of radar? How are they capturing speed info? I'm assuming Beltronics/escort will update the sites of speed cameras like they do with red light cameras...

Thanks.

I'm not so clear on how the school zones are 'united'. Is this a new technique ?

I'm not sure what they use. Andrew21 or Solidjake might know.

Those units use K band. No LIDAR for it, only radar

I see your from Long Island too, have you encountered these yet? My job has me going from school to school so this affects me greatly. Is it instant on or will my STiR plus give me an alert from a distance...
I don't know where you live but i tried today near near a high school going the speed limit (30 mph)..... i felt like didn't even need to hit the gas

C'mon Beltronics update your data :p

Yup as andrew said they are K band. Some are a bit angled on the fixed cameras so the range might be low so be on the look out for this camera:

As for the mobile ones they are tough to see except for some black antennas and sensors on the roof.
