Hi all. Been driving with an Passport 8500 for the last ten years. After two ticks within six months (with in both situation not a peep from my "buddy") i decided 8 weeks ago it was time to buy a new RD. Well, what do you do when you're in the market? You google, bing, whatever. Nice vids of mr RR, and within 10 minutes i was convinced the 9500ix was the detector for me. Online order placed and within two days new detector hanging in my car. Fast forward two weeks: WHAT?! A new detector out?! The best one for every gun, on every band, you say? And it has GPS and a pretty OLED screen? Ring, ring. Hi - this is Escort. May i help you? Yes, please. I like to pre-order the dream-machine and return the ix. No problem. Just hold on to the ix until you receive the Max. Sweet! What a great company! But then the waiting begins. How to kill time? Why not check out some forums? And check out some more. And some more. Man, these guys know their stuff. Nine... CJ.... VG... Happy.... Zippy.... PC.... Windstrings.... So many views. So many opinions. And so the doubting begins..... My Max will -finally- arrive tomorrow but the eagerness has disappeared. No mirror mount? Just a bouncy sticky cup? What?! EL is cool but is it trustworthy? Let's read some more....
I don't know any of you and yet i feel i know you. The gf is laughing. What? Reading the forums AGAIN? Go to sleep! Yeah, but, i don't know if i ordered the right one! Need to research some more! And here i am.... Introducing myself... Valentine, i think i need to meet you.

Welcome to the forum! I received my Max yesterday and like it so far, BUT I haven't seen any cops using radar yet! I like the GPS false filtering and mine doesn't bounce. I was disappointed that I would have to wait for a BlendMount fix but now I'm actually liking the sticky cup.

Now to find some police using radar! That's my project for this weekend. :)

Welcome to the forum :)
I'm not quite sure I belong in the same company as the others you mentioned, but thank you for the kind comment.

So true!! Haha. Cayenne. Funny thing is, after "researching" but never really liking the X5s, I bought that toy within one hour! And here I am, spending hours and hours on a freakin' RD. Guess one knows oneself!

Welcome. That's one of the best intro's I've read.
Thank you sir!

I have a feeling if I stay long enough on this forum I'll be driving soon enough with Max on the left, RL on the right and V1 out of the rear window! Anything else I missed? Oh wait! The jammers!! :mmmsmug::mmmsmug::mmmsmug:

Funny! You had a similar experience as me... Driving along with my 9500ix happy as can be then I get this crazy hyped up email report from escort saying all other RDs in the world are now obsolete so I bit the hook and they reeled me in as I ordered as i had been waiting forever for a decent update.

I have to have the latest and greatest smartphone so certainly that I included a radar detector too right.?

Then came the wait....... BUT so to whet the appetite and make it funner with anticipation, I decided to dig into the forums and learn as much as I could before it arrived!

The more I learned the more I also learned about the V1 and savvy and the connection abilities.

Now I was torn.

After getting my hand slapped a couple times for asking too many questions about it on the escort forum "by the same person in authority", that's when I gravitated over here.

Then I learned even more and met many more who encouraged me saying I would love the V1 so I had to have it...

The wait was so long on the max I figured I had nothing to lose with the 30 day VR return guarantee and all the issues popping up with the max I cancelled as I'm not a good sport when it comes to paying to be a beta tester "aren't they supposed to pay me?"

Once I got my V1 "in like 2 days after ordering", I was thrilled how well the arrows worked and all controls were right on front... I like Knobs over buttons.
I've had ham radios and Knobs are more precise and quicker imo unless it's an on/off feature.

The more I use it the more I can't go back.

Seems we have a bit in common.

Welcome to the forum!
I'm learning and liking my Max more each day, have it direct wired and mounted high and to the left of RVM in my daily driver Jeep Liberty.
Like you, I'm not experiencing excessive bouncing with the sticky cup mount.
Your Cayenne is a very competent vehicle! I've been in the passenger seat along with two others plus driver on track at Barber Motorsports Park and we were lapping ever so slightly slower than the 911's. Impressive SUV!
Now get some parking sensors on it! :)
