MPH MPH K-55 X Band can clock front and back stationary or in motion.

The K-55 can clock front or back, but not both at the same time. And as Spinner said, there is no same lane mode. I was wondering about the Python X band radar. Does it have same lane mode? The Ka band versions do.

Doesn't the MPH K-55 have a "Patrol Speed" readout? Theoretically, an officer could pace you visually for miles, while using the radar to confirm his own velocity, thus giving you a "radar" speeding ticket while actually just pacing you.

Not if it cant clock cars in the same direction while moving

Python 1 and 2 would be like the K55 - only moving and stationary modes. The Python 3 does have same lane and is the only MPH model that can be bought with a X band antenna.
.
(I thought that the Python 2 could be bought with or without same lane. Just cannot find it in all my thousands pages of radar documents. I'll keep on looking)

Back to the K55:

The very first units had a 'box' antenna nothing like the newer style.
mph k55 box radar.JPG

I had one of these, use to break down every so often. Had to take the counter apart and re-solder the pins between the boards. For a radar 'of their' day, worked well. Had pretty good range (then a good detector could 'hear' it at miles away)

This one is on ebay and cheap: ($35 right now) ((no it's not mine))

This unit could be one of the 'tree' clocking units. MPH had problems with ghost readings in moving mode. (anyone have that info? Think it was a Florida court case??)

Mph radar where low cost so departments bought them in huge amounts. Before the K55 came out, I rarely saw moving radar. Mainly Decatur handheld stationary units or the old Kustom huge horn stationary 2 piece units. Suddenly it seemed that about half the department squads had moving radar and it was now longer just CO moving radar. Stationary and moving IO became a big threat. The days of having huge warnings of a LEO sitting somewhere where gone. If you didn't have a good detector that had 'fantastic' range like the escort / used a rabbit / a ticket was in your future.

Thank you for all for your Input, today I was in LongIsland FreePort visiting my sep Mother. I set my V1 to A all bogy mode and there's about three cop cars driving along the sunrise hwy , XBand goes off then there he is making a u turn. I tell ya , I hate to hear the bands go off when passing unsuspected objects and but you do have to be aware of your surroundings . That's why I twitch to L mode and auto mute K . So most likely ill leave it at A mode!!

Python III Operating modes and speed ranges:
. . . . .The basic Python Series III is equipped with stationary mode and opposite-direction moving mode software.
As an option, you may purchase the “FS” version of the radar, which adds fastest vehicle mode and same direction moving mode. . . . . .

Why not run small L? Set your secondary volume low. It will pick up all threats like A mode, but at the quieter alert at the secondary volume. When the threat reaches a certain threshold it breaks through and goes to full volume.

I'm pretty sure there is no moving mode on an X band gun. He was probably pacing you they love to hang out in the truck lane and pace people in the car lane.

Auto mute does not apply to Ka.
