Kind of a newbie question on Bands/Segmentation

I came from an 9500ix that I configured it to only have Ka band enabled (no X or K). It worked great and was pretty quiet for the most part. Only one time I got a ticket and it didn't even beep, so it was probably K band.

I recently took a short trip with both my old 9500ix and RL360c.

So my questions:

1) Are the false alerts from door openers, BSM, etc limited to only "K" band? I ask because my 9500ix does from time to time beep for "Ka" alerts in medium traffic that seemed like false alerts from passing cars and not a PO.

2) I am getting the impression that *if* you turn on segmentation, it will lower the response time for an alert because it has to then scan each band one at a time instead of the entire band spectrum at once (when segmentation if off) - is this true?

2a) ... and if #1 and #2 above are true, then why even segment the Ka band at all if all the false alerts are in the K band?

2b) ... and if #2 is true, is it true for both K and Ka bands?

The theory is that by segmenting KA, you are freeing up processor time, since it is scanning less of KA band, and since K is slow to react to start with (prob, imo, from doing so much processing for falses, that it is slow to react to I/O K, and the same reason that it is by far the quietest detector), that it should in theory, help with this K lag.

1. My 9500ix would likewise generate a Ka false from time to time, seemingly from a close/powerful BSM, but I have not seen the same thing with the newer Escort models.

2. Segmentation on Ka (the wider of the bands) "improves performance" on the R360c according to Escort and it has changed its firmware default recommendation accordingly..

I do extended tests on my M4 8500 x50 euro and "intl" - k wide vs k seg. Response time is the same. (or in other words you cant see the difference). If you use only one or two K seg, the response time will be reduced by about 70msec...not a problem in real life.
I do not use Ka here , but still test M4 detectors with some Ka seg to "on" and impact on K response time is huge....
