I'd say at that price point the Radenso DS1. If you want arrows then maybe try and find a Uniden R7 on sale... I think Amazon has the R7on sale now for a little over your $450 budget @ $479.

Uniden R7 if you need arrows alittle over budget, Radenso DS1 came out and Uniden R4 is coming soon both in your budget... if your not willing to use a phone in the background best options.

My vote would be to stretch it just a little bit and go for the R7. The dual horns are worth the tiny bit extra. The DS1 is really hard to find now, too.

If you use an Android phone try the Highway Radar or JBV1 apps for better crowd sourced alerts(laser) and aircraft alerts. Both are in play in your area.

Oh and the R7!

How about Escort X80? Nobody has Radenso DS1 FS.

If he will be using an android, might as well bump up budget to a Valentine 1. IMO

There sold out if your not willing to wait, don't need arrows for location Uniden R3, if you need arrows Uniden R7 but you will need to bump your budget or find one on sale... if you can bump your budget need arrows and can use your android in background Valentine one Gen 2. Also the R3 is cheaper then Ds1 but performance is better on DS1

Don't. That one is a bit outdated. It's biggest feature is bluetooth, which isn't much good if you don't prefer to pair a phone. A Uniden R3 will do better for same money.

Refurbished R7 on Amazon is right on your budget. Brand new only $30 above.

I don't think the DS1 is too horribly backordered, though I forget when they were supposed to be back in stock.

Doesn't want to pair to a phone. They could use BT/WiFi to auto start JBV1.

They’re hard to find now. Amazon has the R7 for $480 now. That’s an awesome detector and what you want if you don’t want to use a companion app. Agree with the others on the X80. The Escort Redline 360c is great detector, but it’s WAY more expensive.
