My first RD was a Uniden RD-9 in 1986. I've gone through a couple of Escorts, Passports, a Valentine One, and I just received my V1G2 upgrade two days ago, which is how I found this forum. I've already learned that I know WAY less than I thought I did about radar/laser detection and countermeasures. Thanks for the introductory course for me. I look forward to participating in this forum!

Hello @itfitz - Welcome aboard RDF and congratulations on your V1G2! We're glad that you decided to join us.

Make sure you look at one of the outstanding apps available for the V1G2. If you're using an Android device I highly recommend JBV1. If you're using an iOS device than take a look at V1Driver.

Finally, if you're using an iOS device but you're really obsessed with countermeasures (like many of us are) than you may want to consider a standalone Android device connected to your iOS hotspot to run JBV1. ;)

Awesome. I just sent my mothballed G1 in for the G2 upgrade also. Should have it in a couple weeks, and like you , I look forward to learning more about it.

Thanks for the welcomes, folks! I'm purely an Android guy... and it only took me a millisecond of looking around through this forum to see the acronym JBV1 all over the place... so I did my research and installed the app last night. Today was my first day doing some errands with the V1G2 combined with JBV1. And...

HOLY COW!!!!!! This thing ROCKS!!!

I'm getting data overload -- in a good way. I just need to sit down and learn what all the incoming data means. But in my 10-mile-each-way trip to Home Depot this afternoon, I had two awesome experiences:

- I picked up a sneaky radar from over 2 miles away -- and already my RD has saved me one speeding ticket. And....

- I passed a BMW that I sometimes see on the highway (license plate "BMMMMR") -- and with my old V1, he would trigger an alert that would last until far after he was behind me. Today -- NO alert at all. Excellent filters with the V1G2 (and JBV1)!

I'm going to be up late tonight looking through the Vortex videos and reading the manual for JBV1. Exciting times!

Quick question... when I turn my RD on the display says L. I read somewhere that I should change it to another setting... thoughts?

Happy Saturday!

Most people will run with little "l" and/or "A" and you can set this up within JBV1.

FWIW, I have mine set to automatically run little "l" at or below the PSL and "A" 5 mph or more above the PSL.
